In the Gargoyles Saga, events took a different path than in the Goliath Chronicles. After the events of the Hunter’s Moon, Demona fled to Paris and returned when she learned Angela was in danger from the Quarrymen. She sent Angela her journal in a failed attempt to cast a protection spell on her. She later used Queen Mab’s Powder to try to control Elisa’s dreams and alienate her from the clan. After Angela confronted her on attempting to harm Elisa, Demona was more careful. Over the next few months, she and Angela grew closer. When she learned that Angela was the target of Madoc Morfryn (who wanted information about Avalon), Demona decided to train Angela as a sorceress in order to defend herself. Angela later used sorcery to cast a spell of forgetfulness on Demona, where she forgot she was a gargoyle. During this she befriended artist Andrea Calhoun, and continued that friendship even after she recovered her memories. Demona continued to aid the clan against the continued threat of the Unseelie Court. During the climax of the war, Demona saved the world by slaying Madoc Morfryn and later saved the life of Elisa Maza. After the end of the Second Unseelie War, Thailog re-emerged and was confronted by Demona. At present, Demona is still allied with the Manhattan Clan, and still running Nightstone Unlimited. Whether she continues down the path of redemption remains to be seen.
Dracula
His human life was identical to (1). However, Dracula did not die, but was in fact converted into a vampire by the Unseelie Lord, Madoc Morfryn. Dracula had neither desire nor intent to serve Madoc, so he left. He travelled much of Europe through the centuries, and converted others to vampires. He journeyed to Russia in the 17th century and converted Elizabeth Bathory into a vampire, taking her as a mate. In late 1999, Dracula and Elizabeth, under the names Vlad and Elizabeth Tepes came to New York with two young vampires named Imre and Mikaela and their servants to learn the fate of Madoc Morfryn. While there, their mansion was broken into by gangsters under the employ of Tony Dracon, but they were foiled by the Manhattan Clan. However, a machine capable of creating artificial blood was destroyed, and the vampires began to feed off New Yorkers to get the blood they needed. Dracula confronted Dracon and took the Unseelie Halfling Vince into his service. However, the gargoyles tracked them down to their mansion and forced them to flee. Dracula and his vampires were last seen at a mausoleum, with Dracula vowing to crush the gargoyles if they interfered in his affairs once more.
Dzoavits
Unseelie ogre with the same origins as (1). Dzoavits was freed by Ictinike, who made him a lieutenant in his forces. After the end of the Second Unseelie War, Dzoavits went into hiding.
Fang
In The Gargoyles Saga, Fang escaped, but nothing has been heard from him since.
Garm
Garm was the hound and pet of the Unseelie Lord, Madoc Morfryn. He was extremely loyal to his master, and ferocious toward his enemies. Garm fell to his death from the Eyrie Building during the final battle of the Second Unseelie War.
Icarus
According to him, a gargoyle from the New Olympus clan. He came to attend the council of the world's gargoyle clans, and became friends with Delilah. After helping defeat the plot of Darius, Icarus left to travel the world, promising to stop by Manhattan to see Delilah eventually.
Jackal
In the Gargoyles Saga, Jackal and Hyena were upgraded once more by Maddox Technologies, becoming more mechanical than organic and eliminating any possibility of returning to humanity. They joined the Ultra-Pack, and fought the gargoyles first for Nicholas Maddox, and then for the Second Unseelie Court by the proxy of Dr. Sevarius. Since parting company from Sevarius and Maddox, Jackal and Hyena once again became independent agents.
Jersey Devil
One of the fragments of the creature summoned by a woman named Leeds. Otherwise identical to (1). It may or may not have been obliterated in an abortive attempt at re-merging with its brethren.
Li
Young female dragon (200 years old) who was acquired by the Caliph of Samarkand for his menagerie. She was freed by Sata and the other menagerie prisoners, and went to live in Melchior's sanctuary.
Madoc Morfryn
Born to King Avallach
and Queen Danu, Madoc Morfryn was raised as a prince of Avalon alongside
his twin brother Oberon. They were both rivals over many things, especially
the hand of Titania. Madoc eventually began to feel a superiority over
the other races on Earth, and planned to rule over them as a monarch once
he succeeded his father to the throne. Later, Avallach was fatally wounded
in battle against the dragons, and the Avalon High Council was forced to
choose their new ruler. Madoc failed to hide his true nature from the Council,
and they feared him. They chose Oberon over Madoc, and Oberon and Titania
were prepared to wed. Furious over this turn of events, Madoc gathered
a large army of the Fair Folk who felt as he did and gathered them into
a single army under his command. With his second-in-command, Queen Maeve,
this army was christened- the Unseelie Court. Madoc and Oberon warred for
ten years, and their war nearly shattered the Earth. In the end, Oberon
prevailed, and had the traitors captured and banished. Madoc was
punished by being stripped of his power and cast out into the world as
a human. He and Maeve were escorted into the world by the Weird Sisters,
who spoke of a prophecy to Madoc- that he would eventually regain his powers
and gather the Unseelie Court at the time of the Rising. At that point,
he would be slain by a union between the two younger races, gargoyle and
human. Through the centuries, Madoc worked hard to make sure this prophecy
would never come to pass, by encouraging human xenophobia and using them
to kill gargoyles. During the 5th century, Madoc seduced the Welsh princess
Aldan and fathered a son upon her, who would be named Merlin upon his birth.
He planned to use him as a champion against Oberon. The resident sorcerer,
Blaise, recognized the child's true nature, and took him where Madoc would
not find him. He raised him to be a good wizard rather than use his power
for evil. Madoc was infuriated and tried to dispose of Merlin, but failed.
When Merlin brought about the rise of King Arthur Pendragon and Camelot,
Madoc immediately began planning its destruction. He raised Arthur's illegitimate
son, Mordred, and sent him against Arthur. He tricked Nimue into imprisoning
Merlin in a tower of air, to keep him away from Camelot, and finally succeeded
in destroying Arthur's kingdom. Throughout the centuries, Madoc always
assumed the role as a man of rank and power to continue his plans, even
helping to send Canmore against MacBeth, so he could destroy the alliance
between MacBeth and Demona. Soon he allied with Maeve again, and the two
of them manipulated many of history's greatest events. By the 20th century,
Madoc and Maeve had established the corporation of Maddox Technologies
under the names Nicholas Maddox and Mavis O'Connor. They equipped the Canmore
trio with weapons to use to hunt Demona, and even were commisioned by the
Illuminati to manufacture the Quarrymen hammers. When Jon Canmore exposed
the Manhattan Clan to the world, Madoc relocated to New York to keep a
closer watch on them. One thing Madoc did was befriend the young gargoyle,
Lexington. It was a friendship he would use for his own gain. After the
breakup of the Quarrymen, Madoc tricked George Clarence Harrison into becoming
the first of his new Unseelie Halflings. When Harrison realized what was
done to him it was too late, and Madoc used him to find others that would
become Unseelie Halfings, and later, the even deadlier Vampyres. Madoc
created the Ultra-Pack and used them to locate the Gargoyles' home at the
Eyrie Building. Later, he became determined to capture Angela upon finding
out she was from Avalon, to interrogate her for a means of return. He soon
succeeded. It was also then that Lexington learned that Madoc was using
him. But it was too late, for by then, Loki had been freed from his imprisonment,
and Madoc and Maeve regained their old power and retreated to the Brocken.
There, they called upon the Unseelie Court. The Rising had begun. Madoc
then began to make war upon the Manhattan Clan and King Arthur, Merlin
and their allies in London. He enacted many schemes to destroy his enemies
and destroy the prophecised union, which he mistakenly deduced was between
Goliath and Elisa Maza. Soon, the time came to mount their final assault,
to destroy all who would stand against them on Earth, and pluck the incantation
to reach Avalon from Goliath, Elisa, or Angela. His armies assaulted all
the corners of the Earth, while he and his chief lieutenants attacked the
Eyrie Building. Madoc captured Goliath and Merlin and took them back to
his base at the Conservatory Gardens. He exchanged bitter words with his
son, before attempting to draw the incantation from Goliath. When he finally
drew it, he and Maeve were attacked by Elisa and Angela, who had found
the lair. Elisa was fatally wounded, taking an elfshot arrow meant for
Angela. He prepared to kill Goliath, Angela and Merlin at once before invading
Avalon, but Demona (who was watching the whole thing) swooped down with
her iron mace and delivered a fatal blow to Madoc. Madoc died moments later,
and was taken to Avalon for burial by Oberon and Titania. Though the Unseelie
Lord is now dead, his legacy has only just begun to plague the world, a
legacy which may never be erased.
Maeve
2) (Universe:
Gargoyles (TGS)) Once a high-ranking Lady of Avalon under King Avallach,
Maeve became dissatisfied with the Fair Folk helping to guide the younger
races, rather than ruling over them. When her cousin, the Morrigan, was
placed on trial before Queen Danu for starting a war among humans, Maeve
protested to the entire Court and brought great offense to the Queen. Maeve
would probably have been punished as well, had news of Avallach being slain
by a human not interrupted things. When Oberon was named Avallach's succesor,
Maeve joined forces with Madoc Morfryn, who felt as she did about the lesser
races and became his second-in-command when he built a new Court and declared
war on Oberon. She ruled the Unseelie Court at Madoc's side for ten years,
until they were overwhelmed in battle and brought before Oberon to be tried.
Oberon punished Maeve and Madoc by stripping them of their powers and banishing
them to the outside world. Madoc and Maeve separated. Maeve spent most
of her time in Ireland and eventually rose to power as Queen Medb of Connacht,
eventually marrying King Ailill. She became enemies with Cu Chulainn when
he prevented her from conquering Ulster, but later succeeded in having
the hero killed. She spent a considerable amount of time after her reign
as a wandering teller of tales, doing all she could to make sure the Sidhe
were not forgotten. Eventually, she and Madoc found each other and renewed
their alliance. They set up Maddox Technologies under the names Nicholas
Maddox and Mavis O'Connor. When a young Angela Destine accidently mentioned
that she was from Avalon, Maeve began investigating her, and eventually
discovered that she was a gargoyle from the Manhattan Clan. Later she and
Madoc captured the Manhattan Clan. Maeve took a sadistic amount of pleasure
in interrogating Angela, and threating to gut Broadway, should Angela not
cooperate. When Angela was freed, she attacked Maeve, slashing her face.
However, it did not matter, for she and Madoc's powers had finally returned,
and the two along with the rest of the Unseelie retreated to the Brocken.
During the Second Unseelie War, Maeve enacted many schemes of her own.
She tried to persuade Prometheus to join the Unseelie Court; attempted
to use the Hand of Nai-No-Kami to create a great earthquake destroying
New York City; and cast a spell that was slowly killing all the males in
Manhattan. All of the schemes, however, were foiled. Eventually, it was
time to begin the final assault. Madoc and Maeve both led the attack on
the Eyrie Building and together interrogated Goliath to get the spell to
reach Avalon. Maeve battled Elisa Maza, but their fight was cut short when
Madoc was slain by Demona. Maeve herself was captured and brought back
to Avalon by the Weird Sisters to be imprisoned. Whether or not Oberon
can keep one as cunning as Maeve imprisoned forever remains to be seen.
Maza, Elisa
In the Gargoyles Saga, Elisa and Goliath's relationship went through a little strain during the Second Unseelie War. After Elisa was nearly slain by elfshot, these problems were seemingly put aside. Some months later, the pair joined in a commitment ceremony.
New Olympus
In the Gargoyles Saga, New Olympus was first offered alliance with,
and later attacked by, the Second Unseelie Court.
Fortunately, they successfully repelled the invasion.
Primus
First gargoyle known to the Romans, during the time of Caesar Augustus. He lived with the emperor, and met Brooklyn during his first stop on his 40-year-quest with the Phoenix Gate. During Primus' time, the spell of modesty that allowed gargoyles' clothes to turn to stone with them had yet to be cast.
Quarrymen, The
In the Gargoyles Saga, the Quarrymen engaged in activities that were more and more illegal, in part because their ranks were filled with more and more mercenaries as time went on. Sara Jasper revealed many of these activities, and exposed many members of the organization. The final nail in the Quarrymen coffin was when reluctant member Richard Harrison spoke out against the organization at a rally. This enraged Jon Castaway, who attacked Harrison and was revealed as Jon Canmore. As a result, Canmore was arrested and placed in a prison hospital. The Quarrymen were thus disbanded.
Winters, Dr. Ilsa
Cold, Germanic research assistant to Dr. Isaac Payne on the Chronos Project in the year 2043. She was later revealed to have been a facade through which Payne helped his past self in his time travel experiments.
