Description: Hi. An interview with the Gargoyles working under the assumption that the characters of "gargoyles" are actually real people / gargs. So they'll have to have different names of course.
Tell me what you think. This takes place in the second season
before the Avalon series.
Reporter: This is Victoria Lange with WGVN. Yes we are here live
with the stars of the hot new action packed series , Gargoyles. Ok well
to most of you my guests need no introductions.
(She turns from camera
to look at guests. Gestures to all with a wide
hand sweep)
V.Lange: Elise Richards as the take care of herself, kick butt,
heroine Elisa Maza
(camera close up of
"Elisa". She smiles broadly. Audience clap)
V.Lange: To her right Smart mouth wise acker teenager Danny Benere
as Brooklyn.
( He puts up right
hand in 'peace signal' and half raises out of chair, caping wings. Largely
female crowd scream.)
V.Lange (smiling): Yes thank you. The no nonsense leader
of the Manhattan clan Goliath played by David Bacham.
(He smiles and nods
head. Crowd in the background yell in appreciation. WOO WOO WOO)
V.Lange: Our last guests are Thomas Wolf and Ben Faber, A.K.A.
Lexington and Broadway.
( They wave excitedly.
Crowd cheers grow louder.)
V. Lange: I want to thank you all for taking time out of your
busy schedule to join us.
Elise : Thank _you_ Vicky for having us. I think I represent the entire cast when I say it is truely an honor to be here.
V. Lange (smiling) : Ok ... your show is in it's second season doing great I might add, getting alot more publicity than originally expected. (dramatic pause) Where do you think its going to go?
David: Well Vicky, I believe this show is going to go as far as the fans take it.
Thomas: Yes , I'm glad we went to a second season. "Gargoyles"
definitely has the three requirements for success Great writing, Wonderful
plots and hey I have to say it a great cast, (in a lower voice) myself
included. (Audience laughs)
And the ratings prove it. Now I just hope we can continue to
do this and entertain the fans. 'Cause that's what any show is all about.
Entertaining the fans.
Danny: You know Thomas you're exactly right. Without the fans we'd be nowhere. (raises voice and looks out to audience) It's you that make us!!! (crowd scream...Alright, yeah.)
Elise: I really want to expand on some of the issues brought up so far. Go into more depth and explore my character. Our show has brought up some really good issues; Family values, Trust, Honesty, The glorification of role models (realizing they're real people too and not always saints). Now I just hope we're around long enough to be able to do that.
V.Lange: (laughing) With this kind of reaction I have a feeling
you will.
(Crowd still screaming in background)
Speaking of characters, How well do you relate to yours? Is Elisa Maza
really Elise Richards and vice versa.
Elise: Oooh. That's a tough one. No I have to say not fully. There are days I feel like I know Elisa that I have had some of her experiences and then she comes up with this whole new side. And as a mother of three I have sides to me that Elisa Maza hasn't had a chance to explore yet. All in all sometimes I am sometimes I'm not. (grinning) I believe that's called schizophrenia is it not?
V. Lange: (laughs) How are your children by the way? Two girls and a boy right?
Elise: Yes you are, little Keith and the twins . They're just great although the girls are going through that potty training stage, hectic to say the least. My husband has really been supportive and great these past few months and Keith just loves the show.
V.Lange: Yes that's the great thing about the show also. It's Children safe and yet adults would want to watch it also. Very dynamic. Ok back to the original question, How much of your character is you?
Ben: I don't know. I really don't relate to my character as much. Broadway is more the quiet, sensitive type. I'm more outgoing. Like Elise said it sometimes you really feel your character and then they're days that it feels like you're playing a complete stranger.
Danny: I think that's true for real life also , and not just for actors. There are days when you just don't feel like yourself. My character , Brooklyn , was one of the fastest adjusters to this 'new world' a mover and a shaker if you will. It might sound kind of vain but I think I resemble him in that aspect. I always like following what's going on, what new thing just popped up. Although I don't share his need to be included. As was shown in "Temptation" Brooklyn really has a need for other 'kindred spirits' that's not me , I like being around other people yeah sure but I'd just as soon be a loner.
Thomas: (to Danny) You share his mouth though don't you?
Danny: (laughs) Please.. Thomas you leave yourself wide open. It'd be cruel _not_ to take the opportunity. (looking back at Lange) He gives me the bullets, the gun, loads it , cocks the trigger and then expects me _not_ to shoot.
V.Lange: ( smiling and looking slightly confused) What are we talking about here?
Thomas: (laughing) His sarcasm. He made a pot shot about me backstage. Anyway my character is the exact opposite of me. At least I believe so. Smart to the genius level, gullible, highly enthusiastic, etc. I'm more of the laid back type myself.
V. Lange: Wait a minute hold it. You mean you're _not_ a technology genius??? < she knows she asked all these questions backstage already but yet she still manages to look surprised. Amazing ain't it?>
Thomas: (snorts) I wish. My mom would just love it. I'm the kind of person who never programs his VCR. Who do they write those instructions for anyway? It's like in a secret code or something.
Ben: You mean you can't understand them? (looking shocked)
Thomas: You can ?
Ben: Of course. I thought everybody could. I'll take a look at it for you if you want
Thomas: Yeah that'd be great. After the show.
Ben: Sure.
V.Lange: And David? How about you?
David: Yes well I agree with Ben and Elise. There are times you wholeheartedly believe you are just like your character and then times they're complete strangers. With each episode though they come to be closer and closer friends. Goliath is a noble hero....very dignified.....very righteous. I know I can't be that 24/7 no one can but with each episode I'm getting to know him a little better.*
V.Lange: (looking up at large clock on wall) Ok I think we have
room for a one more question and then we'll give the audience a chance
to talk.
How do you guys get along off set?
Ben: Ooohhhh the down and dirty question. We get along great. Best friends.
David: (grinning) Like your character the cast members also grow on you.
Danny: Yeah like a bad habit , once you start it's hard to stop
but it doesn't mean they're good for you. (Everyone laughs)
Seriously though, These guys are like my brothers ( gesturing to Ben and
Thomas) .... they all are like family.
After a taping we hang out , our families with theirs sometimes, David
is right you grow on each other.
Thomas: Sentiments exactly
Elise: Yeah. One great big family
V.Lange: Bringing up family is it true David that you're going
out with Elizabeth Marin - The hate stricken Demona on the show?
David: (nods smiling) We're engaged. I actually got the audition for the part of Goliath with her help.
V. Lange: Engaged ? Really? Congratulations. (leans forward conspirationally) When's the date?
David: We're not sure yet. Sometime in the fall.
V. Lange: My best wishes.
David: Thank you.
V. Lange: Ok we're finally at that part of the show that everyone's been waiting for.....The fans get to ask the questions. Go ahead step up to the mike and ask your question.
Young female human steps up to the mike , looking really nervous.
Fan: Hi . I'm Barbara. I've been a fan since the beginning and I think your show is really great. Television has never been the same. My question is for Elise....How do you manage being a full time mother and an actress also?
Elise: Good question. One word , Help and alot of it. As I've
said before my husband is wonderful. He helps out in any way he can and
is just great with the kids. He knows acting is something I've wanted to
do for a long time and he respects my decision to play this role. It also
helps that the kids love the show , regular little Gargamaniacs. "There's
Mommy There's Mommy" It's
great. I sometimes take them with me to the showing and
the cast is also really great about that. Everyone is just so supportive.
V.Lange: Thank you. Next question.
Young man steps up
Fan: Yeah hey. Great show. I love what you guys are doing. Elise mentioned earlier that Gargoyles dealt with important life issues. And I absolutely agree. My question is are you going to continue to ...... deal with these issues and go deeper or are you going to take on a bit of a lighter note? Thank you.
David: I'll take that one. That really depends on the director,
fans approval, script writer , a variety of people, but yes I believe we
are going to continue down that route. Today's youth need more than just
another action packed, wham bam, kill 'em up shoot out at the O.K. corral,
they need to know that Guns are _not_ toys, that people have feelings as
well as gargoyles,
that you can be strong and still care about others. And if we
can teach them this in a fun and entertaining way so that they retain it
, than all the better .
(a few claps can be heard that eventually grow to a near deafening
roar)
(when applause finally dies down)
V. Lange: Ok we have room for just one more question.
Fan: Hi. My question is directed to Danny. Me and my friends (she turns around and glances at a group of girls sitting behind her) were just wondering , do you have a girlfriend?
Danny ( smirks) : Does that mean you're applying for the job?
Fan: (grinning back from behind her bangs) Are you interested?
Danny: (laughs) Actually I do have a girlfriend, Who's gonna kill
me for that. I'm flattered though. Thank you.
V. Lange: I'm sorry we're out of time. Thank you so much for joining me it's been wonderful having you on. And I wish you many more great seasons. I also hope you can join us again sometime.
Thomas: Oh we're counting on it.
V.Lange: This is Victoria Lange from WGVN, thank you for joining us.
(rolls credits. Victoria leans over and begins talking eagerly
to Elise. Fades out to commercial.)
THE END
Hope you enjoyed it. Sorry I really couldn't think of a T.V. show
name so I stuck with WGVN. Nothing else occurred to me.
I have my own website now, www.geocities.com/Area51/Quasar/1661-
not much on yet. I'm adding new things each day.
I still haven't finished part 3 (there's only so many hours in
a day and yes I do have a life outside of gargoyles) but I'm going as fast
as I can. If anyone really cares that is <g>. Anyway thanks for reading
