A Small Wish

Author's Note: This is my first attempt at writing a fanfic based upon the Gargoyles Episode, using the actual characters. I had the idea for this while sleeping one night, and just had to write this. I put a lot of effort into it. Also, throughout the entire story, you might notice questions coming from the author himself, like Why is this happening to me? That is usually the person who has control of the story. Most of the time, it's Lex, so there's information for you.

All gargoyle characters are not original characters, having been created by Disney and Buena Vista Television. Actually, they were created by Greg Weismen, but they're not mine.

Eliza Maza walked down the street towards the Eyrie Building. She was glad that the gargoyles had returned back to their home, but felt even better about their situation in the city. Ever since Demona had tried and destroyed the human race again with that plague, and Goliath had managed to stop it, things have settled down. However, this new faction called the Quarrymen worried her. She had done some checking into them, but so far, things we're ok for the gargoyles. She hefted the pack she was carrying higher on her shoulder. She had a special surprise for Goliath tonight. That kiss atop Castle Wyvern after the same incident involving Demona made their relationship with each other more personal.

Lots of things were happening around this time. Xanatos and Fox were off on a business trip. They took Owen too, leaving the gargoyles keepers of the castle. She also had the weekend off, and made the most of it by planning several dates with Goliath.

She showed the guard at the bottom of the Eyrie Building a card which allowed her access to the top floors. She had this card for that special reason sleeping on the tower top. She was admitted, and headed to the top floor. There was still some time for her to get ready before sunset, so she went into a bathroom and opened her pack. She changed clothes, and headed up towards the rampart where Goliath slept. The sun was setting, and once again she would be witness to a most spectacular show. The familiar cracking sound could be heard, as Goliath woke with a roar from his stone sleep. Below him, she could hear the sounds of the other gargoyles waking from their stone slumber. Goliath turned around, to see Eliza dressed in a spectacular gown, having prepared early for their date tonight.

"Good Evening Goliath. You ready?" Eliza said with a hint of passion in her voice.

Goliath frowned. "I have to visit the Labyrinth. Your brother wanted to see me on matters involving the future of his home."

Eliza smiled. "That won't take long. I can wait."

Goliath kissed her. "I won't be long, love. I think Brooklyn and Broadway are doing something interesting tonight...perhaps you'd like to watch while I wait?"

Eliza smiled. "I'll head down...just get back soon."

Goliath smiled, and spread his wings. He launched himself off the parapet, heading towards the south. Eliza sighed, and headed downstairs, where Goliath was true in saying Brooklyn and Broadway were doing something interesting....

Lexington always had been the smallest gargoyle, which was a factor in many battles that were physical. Most importantly, he was always overpowered, and never won a fight. Even a group of humans could take him! Angela had small problems, except when she was mad, and she was the next strongest gargoyle. He always envied Goliath for his height and strength. However, this was something that never really bothered Lexington. It was just something small that usually went away when he thought about it. But, most recently, the anger of being small and the envy of being bigger has been bothering Lex recently. Just the other day, Brooklyn asked him if he could look under the couch and reach for the remote. Lex was busy with a program on the computer, and asked why. Brooklyn's reply made Lex a tad angry, when he said "I'm too big! Your small enough to get down there."

Another instance was when Broadway was cooking in the kitchen, and asked Lex if he could get some flour on a very tall shelf. Lexington tried, but could not reach it without making a mess. Broadway came over and got it himself, making Lex fell anger there. Just yesterday there was a Godzilla movie on TV, and that made Lex angry. He knew this was something that couldn't possibly happen. He had just been riled up by these coincidences.

Lexington was walking down the hall remembering this, when he came up to the . He saw Brooklyn and Broadway doing something called "arm-wrestling", a new sport they had seen on TV last night. Hudson was there, watching the television, along with Bronx laying on the rug. Lex had seen Angela in the library reading, and assumed Eliza and Goliath were out somewhere.

He walked up to the gargoyles, who were tense while in the middle of an arm-wrestling match. Broadway slammed Brooklyn's fist down onto the table after a few seconds. "Jalapena Broadway, this is a friendly game, not a battle! You don't have to slam my fist that hard!"

Broadway smiled. "Well, if you hadn't given up on me, I might've not slammed it so hard!"

Brooklyn smiled slightly, then looked as Lexington walked up. "Hey guys, do you think I could try?"

Broadway replied, "Lex, you can't possibly beat us! Your not that strong."

Lex became a bit annoyed. "I could probably take Brooklyn..."

Brooklyn sighed. "If you want to try, go ahead. But you might win, seeing how I'm tired from my last match with Broadway here..."

Lex frowned. Since he was tired? He sighed, then got up onto the now vacant chair. Broadway watched, and became the ref. Lexington locked up with Brooklyn, as Broadway yelled the start. Immediately, Lexington put on the pressure. However, he could see Brooklyn was winning, right from the start. Soon, he slammed his fist down onto the table as Lexington became completely exhausted. "I told you Lex! You couldn't possibly take me..."

Lexington was mad, and walked off. Brooklyn had been tired, and he still couldn't beat him! Hudson saw Lexington walking off, and got up to follow.

Lexington sat out on the ledge of one of the towers. "I wish I was bigger, so I could at least contribute to the clan more...."

Hudson walked up, hearing this statement. "But lad, you already do contribute! Do ye not remember the time when you helped us with so many technical problems? Your the best computer person we have..."

Lexington turned around to face Hudson. "But most everything else we've done was combat with another gargoyle or human, and each time I've locked up, I've always been overpowered! I only wish I was big and strong like Goliath."

Hudson frowned. Walking off, he said, "Be careful what you wish for, lad. It might come true."

Lexington slumped down a little. "Well, for once, I want this wish to come true!"

Demona had had an interesting time listening in on this conversation. As soon as she had managed to gain Nightstone Unlimited, she had placed bugs in top buildings, for information. Now, she saw this perfect opportunity to eliminate the gargoyles once and for all. She smiled inwardly. It would be so simple! All she had to do was grant Lex's wish, and they would be destroyed!

She stepped up from her computer screen and walked over to a artifact case in her office at the top of the Nightstone building. Inside, no surprise to her, was the Grimorum Archinorum. In the brief time she had possessed this book, she knew that someone would try and take it from her. It was an eventuality she had prepared for. Looking through the tomes of this mighty source of magic, she had made a exact copy of it, and transferred some of it's power into the copy, thus enchanting it. She looked idly through some of the pages, and found the spells she would need. Now, all she had to do was wait for Lexington to leave the castle.

Lexington was about to do just that, having become bored with the castle for tonight. He didn't want to join Brooklyn and Broadway, and there was nothing on TV. Also, there was nothing he would want to read right now. He jumped off the tower and flew around, not knowing someone was following him.

He always enjoyed flying, being the best part of being a gargoyle. This was the best, as he swooped around and caught currents. He was getting exhausted after awhile, and soon landed on a rooftop to catch his breath. The mysterious observer landed too, ready to confront Lex.

"I've been meaning to have a word with you, Lexington...." said a almost angelic voice.

Lexington whirled around, completely baffled by the source of the voice. "Who are you, what do you want?"

The voice continued. "I'm here to grant your wish, to allow you to have what you always wanted." At that point, a small light filled the area, and out of it, came a human. She was flying off the ground on pure white wings, and had nothing except a long white robe on. Lexington thought he heard of something that matched this description....he thought desperately about what it was, and finally got an answer. She was a angel! But weren't those mythical, he thought? Heck, he was supposed to mythical.

Lexington spoke up. "What? How could you possibly know about my wish."

The angel paused a second. "I know all about your clan, and everything you do. You waste my time by not accepting my offer. Either agree, or I shall leave."

Lexington started to act rash. He thought angels were a bit nicer, but immediately started to talk. "Wait!! Wait....what exactly do I have to do to? What do I owe you if you do grant my wish...?"

The angel seemed to brighten up. "You have to owe me nothing. I'm merely a friend who wants to help."

Lexington paused again, thinking it over. "I guess...I guess you could do it, whoever you are. "Lexington was hiding the excitement he was feeling. He was finally going to be bigger! He could possibly take on Goliath in arm-wrestling match after this! He waited, as the angel started talking in Latin. Latin was a common language for spells. All the spells in the Grimorum were Latin...must be the same in heaven. Lexington had no education so far in human religion yet.

Lexington was also not proficient in Latin. He couldn't tell what spell was being cast, but soon the voice ended, and he could feel a almost hot feeling go through him. He looked down at himself, but didn't see anything different about him. Lex was confused. "Hey, what did you do?" Lex asked. He thought he would be seeing some effect by now.

"You have gotten your wish Lexington. Now go in peace, for you soon shall experience something you will never forget."

Lexington was confused, and saw the figure disappear in a flash of light. He decided to head back to Eyrie Building, leaping off the roof and flying towards it. He was half excited and half confused, but had he been half aware, he would have seen Demona flying off towards the Nightstone Building.

Lexington landed heavily on top of the highest tower in Castle Wyvern. For some reason, the trip was extremely tiring. It felt like he flew farther then he ever flew in his life! He assumed it was the wind, and headed downstairs. He looked into a mirror to see if he was any bigger. Oddly, nothing appeared to be different about him. He was so excited, he almost saw himself bigger than before. He decided to see if his strength improved too, and walked into the main area where the other gargoyles were.

The arm-wrestling match had turned into a full scale tournament. For kicks, everyone was included, including Eliza. Brooklyn and Broadway were in the arm-wrestling match, with Angela watching close by. Eliza was watching close by too, who was wearing a outstanding outfit. Lexington smiled...Goliath is lucky tonight. He didn't care for Goliath and Eliza's relationship with each other. All he knew was that they were together. She watched for a second, then left the room.

Lexington walked up to the contestants, as Broadway once again slammed Brooklyn's fist into the table. "Hey guys, think I could try again? I'm feeling a lot better, and stronger than before."

Brooklyn looked at Lexington, slowly rubbing his hands. "Is that so? Well, get up there then...I've been losing to Broadway all night, and hope to get a win sometime."

Lex's smile decreased some, but he got up and grabbed hands with Brooklyn. Lex was as ready as ever, as Broadway yelled go. However, as the match started, it was immediately over, as Brooklyn slammed Lex's fist onto the table. Lex looked at what had happened, and couldn't believe it. Brooklyn seemed shocked too. "I thought you felt better! That was lot easier than before."

Lex slowly said, "Yeah...I guess I'm more tired than I thought."

He got up from his chair and walked off to the side, staring at his hand. Brooklyn looked at him, confused as Lex was. He got up from the arm-wrestling table. "I'm done for the night....too tired, plus I'm eliminated.."

Eliza walked back in. "Jalapena, what is taking Goliath so long?"

Angela looked over at Eliza. "I have no idea Eliza. I wonder what could be taking my father so long. However, it is our turn to wrestle. "She smiled after saying this.

Eliza returned the smile. "Let's do it."

As Eliza took of her bracelets, so as not to ruin them, Lexington walked off. He decided to take a swim, a thing he rarely had time for. He needed some practice anyway, since his swimming wasn't all that great. Eliza looked up. "What's got him down?"

"I have no idea...lost another match to me in arm-wrestling. He seemed so much easier to beat!" Brooklyn replied.

Eliza frowned. "He should get over it in time. I mean, he was really happy when he walked in."

Broadway put his finger to his mouth. "Yeah, I wonder what cheered him up?"

Lexington walked over into the pool area. He hadn't been very good in swimming, being in the air all the time and not having to worry about it. He had the basics down, and wanted to practice them. Seeing no one enter the room, he took off his belt and dived into the pool. He had always had a hard time with swimming, since the wings under his arms hindered him. Still, he made good progress, but he knew he hadn't been practicing. The time it took him to do laps was much longer than what it used to be.

He swam for awhile, seeing no one come in, or care about it. Finally, he got out of the pool, and slipped his loincloth back on. When he adjusted the strap on his belt, he noticed a peculiar thing. The strap that he usually used, which was well-worn, was not the strap his belt was tied on to. It was instead a little tighter. His body didn't feel different...it fit perfectly. He shook his head, and headed back into the main room after drying off. Tonight was a very strange evening.....

Demona watched Lexington walk down the hall through another one of her bugs. "Time for phase 2 of my plan," she said with a wicked grin. She walked over to the open Grimorum, and started to chant.
Eliza and Angela locked up hands as Lexington walked back into the room. They were about to start, since Eliza received a phone call on her beeper and couldn't start right away. Broadway was ref once again, as Eliza and Angela got ready. Lexington suddenly felt a wave of dizziness hit him, but then felt fine. He walked over next to Angela, as Broadway said go. Eliza and Angela tensed up, trying to put the other's hand onto the table. Angela started taking a definite lead, but soon, she seemed to start losing. Worry filled her face, as Eliza's arm pushed hers closer and closer to the table. Finally, she put it down, claiming victory. Eliza looked at her. "You gave out to soon!"

Angela looked baffled. "I never did give out...I thought you just got more strength."

Lexington was speechless however, as his belt had snapped. During the match, he didn't notice it start to get tight, but as Eliza made the victory, the strap came loose, and nearly brought his loincloth down. He quickly exited the room, so as not to embarrass himself. He quickly restrapped his belt, finding that the strap was once again back to the well-worn one. Had he grown? He quickly went back to the mirror, looking at himself. Again, nothing seemed different, but as he measured himself against a wall, it showed that he had definitely grown a few inches. Lexington immediatly went ecstatic. He was growing! He knew he would be big as Goliath soon, so he quickly went back into the main area.

Angela seemed to have walked away, saying she didn't feel to good. Eliza meanwhile dropped out of the tournament, seeing Goliath gliding in the distance. Broadway was the only one left, as Hudson didn't want to join. Lexington walked up, trying to make himself look taller. "Broadway, I am positive I can take you this time."

Broadway looked at him, with a puzzled look. "Well, if you can beat me, your champion. You never were officially entered in the competition. Get ready to get beaten though, cause the way you lost to Brooklyn, there's a 100% chance your not going to beat me."

So he thinks, thought Lex as he sat down. He had an easier time bringing his arm up to the table and locking hands with Broadway. Broadway played ref, since no one else was around to say go. He did just that, and the competition began. Lex was suprised to find he wasn't having a hard time with Broadway, and felt like it was getting easier to bring his hand down. Was he growing again? He kept trying to get Broadway, who looked at Lexington with wide eyes. As the match continued, he could feel his feet start to touch the ground, where originally, they had been hanging in mid-air. Lexington landed the win, with Broadway looking at him funny. Did he notice? "Say, we're you just trying to trick me earlier on how you could not beat Brooklyn? You sure did a good job!" Guess not, thought Lex.

Lex was fidgeting with his belt, which had become tight again. "Yeah, I'm pretty good, aren't I?"

"Yeah. Well, your champ. Congrats. Now if you excuse me, the kitchen calls..." Broadway replied. He had left out that he was going to go to the bathroom first...he needed to check something.

Lexington smiled, and walked over to the couch where Hudson was. It only came up to his chest! He had to lift himself up earlier to look over it, but now it was way smaller. Hudson was asleep, as Lexington plopped down into a chair. He propped it back, bringing the bottom up to support his feet. Another fact about his new size shined through, as his whole body fit in it perfectly. His feet went all the way out to the end of the chair, and his head was at the top. He was still growing! The chair's back moved slightly, as his skin grew away from it. He wasn't growing that fast, but he was growing nevertheless. He looked over at Hudson. He seemed so much smaller! He was probably as tall as Angela by now, much to his delight. He looked around quickly for a tape measure to see what his height was, leaving the main room.

Broadway went into the bathroom, looking at himself. Nothing different there. Broadway had been on a diet, much to his displeasure. Now, he thought the diet was finally having it's effects on him, as his belt suddenly came loose during the match with Lexington. He walked over to the scale. He stepped up on it, and waited for the thing to stop moving so rapidly. Then, he got a amazing shock. "Wow! I have finally lost weight!" He tightened his belt for the first time in his life, looking in the mirror. His belly did seem smaller, and he jumped for joy. Angela would be so pleased to hear this! He quickly went over to the library, where he saw her heading last.

Broadway busted in on her, as she was reading a book. Her armlet was laying on the table next to her for some reason, but he didn't care. "Hey Angela, guess what happened?"

Angela looked up from her book, a small frown on her face. "What?"

Broadway spilled the beans, full of joy. "I've actually lost weight! This diet is paying off..."

Angela smiled. "Are you sure it's the diet? I've seen you cheat on it in more than one occasion." She hid a smirk that formed on her face.

Broadway smiled, and walked up to her. "Come here you...."

Angela stood up, expecting a kiss coming on. She walked up to Broadway, and closed her eyes for it. However, she didn't feel Broadway for a second, as though he paused. Then the kiss came, and she enjoyed it the best she could.

Broadway had paused for a particular reason. When he had kissed her before, their lips always met. However, as he walked up, he noticed he actually had to reach up and kiss her. He did that, and soon parted the kiss, hiding his concern.

Angela had placed her armlet on the stool next to her chair for a reason too. When she wasn't feeling good, it went away as soon as she sat down. Then, her armlet slipped down her bicep, and down to her wrist. She tried putting it back, but that didn't work. She simply took it off and read her book.

Hudson woke up momentarily, and picked at his clothes. They felt baggy, as he went back to sleep.
Brooklyn was flying around the city, doing a little patrolling. He had nothing better to do. He still felt bad about Broadway and Angela still being together, but he was almost over it. He landed back at the clock tower, after having a quiet time patrolling. He saw Hudson and Bronx sleeping on the couch. He didn't want to disturb them, and headed towards the kitchen. He saw Lex running down the hall, which made him look twice. Was Lex bigger than before, or was it just him? He only caught a quick glimpse. He sighed. His mind must be getting to him. He went back into the kitchen, and reached up to the top shelf to get something to eat.
Lexington frowned slightly. As soon as he had left the main area where Hudson was sleeping, he had stopped growing. He felt it stop, and wondered what had happened. He was pretty big now, and if the other gargoyles looked at him, they would recognize the difference. He would have to tell them somehow, about his wish getting granted.

He posed in the mirror, extremely excited. "I can't wait the next time I lock up with some punk...make them think twice."

Sunrise was approaching fast, and he wondered if he could get away with not going to sleep in the normal location. If the gargoyles saw him as he was now, they would go to bed with something to think about! He went into a area of Castle Wyvern, and assumed the position as the sun came up.

Goliath and Eliza returned about the time the sun was going to rise, and Hudson woke up. He seemed a little confused for some reason, but didn't say anything when everyone went into position. Angela looked up before she turned to stone, and said, "Where's Lexington?"
Eliza watched her love turn to stone, then walked inside of the Eyrie Building. She walked past the area where Lex was hiding, not noticing him. Had she done so though, she would have been surprised at the size Lexington had become. She merely walked past the tall statue, and grabbed her pack. Her regular clothes were sitting there, as she went into the restroom to change. She had no trouble taking off her dress, which seemed a little looser than when she put it on. Her shoes came right off. As she put on her clothes, she noticed how they didn't fit in some places. She simply shook her head, went downstairs, and left the building for home. "Long night...my mind must be playing tricks on me.
All throughout the day, a small sound of moving rock echoed the halls of the Eyrie Building.
Eliza woke up from sleep. Darn! She had slept in! Goliath would be waking in a half-hour, and she would be late! She quickly got dressed, still noticing that looseness to her clothes. Perhaps she was getting a slimmer figure...like that could happen. How could she possibly get any better than what she was? That made her smile as she rushed down to ground level and got into her Cadillac. She didn't rush in driving, not wanting to be delayed further by the police. With minutes to spare, she made it to the Eyrie Building. The sun was setting as she showed the guard ID and went upstairs. The sun had fallen beyond the horizon, as Goliath and the other gargoyles started to wake. Goliath turned around with a smile.

"Good Evening Eliza," Goliath said.

"Good Evening to you too," she said, as she walked up to him.

Once again, Goliath picked her up, and they flew off.

Angela watched from a lower balcony, and saw Goliath fly off again. "My father is really in love with Eliza."

Hudson piped up. "Aye. I wonder what will happen to them in the future?"

Angela looked back at Hudson. "Yes, I wonder too. By the way, have you seen Lexington? He didn't make it to his stand last night."

Hudson frowned. "Perhaps we should wait. If Lexington knew better, he'd come straight home right now."

Angela nodded, and headed back inside.

Lexington woke from his stone slumber with a roar, which paled in comparison to the sound outside from the other gargoyles. He looked around sleepily, then looked down at himself. He immediatly woke up. He was his old size again! What had happened? Had the angel's spell worn out so soon? Lexington groaned, walking slowly back into the main area. He paused, thinking of an excuse as to why he wasn't at his sleeping place last night.

Lex walked into the main room to see Angela and Hudson there. Angela was about to leave for the library, and Hudson was sitting down to watch TV. Before Angela left, she noticed Lexington and walked over to him. "Lex, where were you last night? You didn't make it to your bed."

Lex tried his excuse. "I didn't know the sun was coming up...I was preoccupied looking around and thinking, and went to sleep inside the castle."

Angela smirked. "Well next time, make sure you look out the window every so often...who knows what might happen if someone saw a statue in the middle of the hall."

Lex sighed as Angela walked off. His excuse had worked. She paused at the doorway for some reason, but then continued on out of the room. Lexington wondered about that, but suddenly looked down at his belt. The only thing he was wearing, it had become an indicator about his size. It was telling him right now that his size had increased again. It was tight on him. The angel's spell was still in effect! But why had it shrunk him back to normal size? Perhaps it had to do with his stone sleep. He shrugged, and headed outside.

It was his turn to patrol tonight, as he gracefully jumped off and caught a powerful wind current. He wasn't growing for some reason while he flew. Last time he grew, he grew a lot in one time. Back there in the main room, he only grew a little. He wondered about this, as he caught sight of a crime below in the streets. A robbery was occurring, and the person who committed it was running down the alley. The police were eluded by him, but not for long, as Lexington prepared to fly down and stop him.

Angela walked down the hall towards the library. Finally figuring out what happened to Lex, and knowing he was safe, she was a little more satisfied than she had been. She was still worried about how her armlet no longer fit her. In fact, her belt slipped a bit after she had talked to Lex. She looked in a mirror at her figure. Nothing seemed wrong about her. She didn't feel anything. Her belt was on a tighter strap than it usually was, but what could explain that? She sighed, and walked to the library to continue reading.
Lexington waited behind a corner in the alley, as the punk ran by. He looked pretty strong, and Lex wondered for a second if he could stop him. He grinned. He should be able to with his new strength. He maneuvered in front of the punk, and leaped in front of him. The punk looked terrified, and lashed out at Lexington. Lexington dodged, as the punk started to run again. Lexington ran after him, and leaped in an attempt to grab him. However, he miscalculated his jump, and leapt right over him. He didn't know he was that strong! But, he was caught unaware, as the punk grabbed him from behind and started to choke him.

Lexington felt weird all of a sudden. The feeling went away, but something was terribly wrong. He could feel the punk start to shrink....or was he growing? He looked around, and found the latter was true. Everything started to get smaller. He was quickly growing larger than the punk, who freaked out and let go of Lex. Lex's loincloth started becoming tight. Lex tried to take it off and put it back on again, but he got too large too fast, and it snapped off. He was so much larger than his regular size, that his loincloth was too small to wear. Lexington kept growing. He couldn't see the punk anymore, but knew he was still there. How scared he must be right now.

Finally, his growing stopped. As Lexington looked down at himself, he gasped. He was huge. He must be twice Goliath's height! He didn't want to be THIS big! Panic entered his mind, but soon, he calmed down. All he had to do was wait until sunrise, and then when he turned to stone, he would shrink back to normal size. He looked down for the punk, but all he found was a pile of clothes. Strange....he saw the loot sitting there, and left it close to the alley entrance for the police to pick up. Meanwhile, he grabbed his loincloth and headed deeper into the alley. He had to get somewhere where his size wouldn't be noticed, or where he couldn't be seen, period! Lex felt a slight wave of embarrassment, but continued towards the harbor. Possibly he could hide under water there, and no one would see him.

Lexington made it without anyone noticing him. He dove into the water, and just waited there, going underwater whenever a crowd of people came by, or whenever a ship passed. It was several hours to sunrise, and he assumed that his techniques would be sufficient to keep himself hidden. However, he noticed that as the hours went by, he was getting smaller. He had his legs touching the bottom of the water, but soon, he couldn't stand in that water, and had to move closer to shore or swim. By the time sunrise had approached, he was the size of Goliath. What had happened? Was the spell of the angel's fading? He was small enough to put back on his loincloth, and get out of the water. Thankfully, the water wasn't cold that night, so he didn't freeze to death.

Lexington looked for a place to sleep. He was too far from the Eyrie building to head back, and too large. The gargoyles would notice his height. He still hadn't told them about his wish. He would have to do that tomorrow. He landed on a rooftop, hid, and feel asleep.

Broadway came out of the kitchen, chomping down on a large sandwich. He had been thoughtful enough to leave out the fattening stuff, cause he knew his diet was working. Having polished that off, he looked around for Angela. He needed some company right now, for he had been off on patrol, and came back with nothing to do. He found her in the regular place, the library. She was reading her book again, and was almost done with it too. He noticed that her armlet wasn't on her arm....he wondered about that as he grabbed a book of Shakespeare and started quoting it. She seemed to like that a lot.

Angela looked up, seeming preoccupied. She smiled on seeing Broadway, and got up from her chair as he continued talking. She got closer to him, and paused before turning him around to talk to him. Broadway was taller than she was. Wasn't he shorter than her yesterday? It was only a slight difference in height....perhaps he was standing on his toes, or standing taller. She touched him lightly on the shoulder. Broadway stopped talking, turned around, and looked at Angela for a second. Perhaps he was observing the same difference I noticed, thought Angela.

Broadway saw she wanted a kiss, and did just that. Angela knew she was smaller than him now, as she had to reach up slightly to kiss him, rather than just lean forward. As they broke, Angela asked, "Is it me, or are you taller today?"

Broadway frowned. "You know, I thought the very same thing yesterday. But it looks like your smaller."

Angela began to worry. "Wait a minute....let's go compare heights."

Broadway nodded, and went into the bathroom with Angela. She looked around for a tape measure, as he measured his weight. It was still the same as yesterday. That could be expected...he was glad it didn't go up.

"I'm still the same size as I was yesterday," Broadway said to Angela.

Angela frowned, as she looked down at her skirt. She had worn this thing a lot, and knew where it should and shouldn't be. It wasn't where it was supposed to be. It was hanging down lower on her legs, coming past her kneecaps. "Well, I don't think I am the same size as I was yesterday...in fact, not since I was younger."

She found the tape measure, and stepped up against the wall. Broadway extended it up her body, noticing that her clothes looked baggy in some places. Her blouse usually fit her perfectly, but now, it was hanging loose on her hips and chest.

Angela saw the measurement, and frowned. "I have shrunk some....this explains a lot. Like why my armlet doesn't fit, and why my belt has to be tighter to fit me."

"And why your clothes are looser, "Broadway added.

Angela looked down at her clothes. Broadway was speaking the truth. "We have to tell everyone. This could be happening to more than one of us. Even your weight loss might not be actual weight loss." Broadway frowned at this. "Hey, are you saying my diet isn't working?"

Angela smiled. "Your diet would never work. You were never on a diet, the way I saw you eat." Broadway smiled sheepishly, as they went into the main room to tell everyone. Hudson was watching TV, and Bronx was sleeping upon the rug in front of Hudson.

Angela spoke up. "Guys, we have a serious problem."

Brooklyn looked up. "What is it Angela?"

Angela frowned, saying, "Have any of you noticed that your clothes feel looser? Or that some things are bigger than they were before?"

Hudson looked her way. Bronx lifted up his head.

"Yes," both said. Bronx, of course, barked, but everyone assumed that meant yes.

Angela frowned, and explained her story. "Listen, I just measured my height, and found that I am smaller than I was earlier. I think some magic is shrinking us...I have no idea what though."

Brooklyn frowned. "I have not felt anything...or felt any smaller"

Angela frowned. "There must be something controlling this....but what?"

Broadway spoke, "Maybe it was Demona...she's the only one I know of that has magic."

Hudson was in deep thought. Demona was the only one who knew where they were definitely. But she also had no way of getting in here. Xanatos said security was impregnable. "We must not assume that Demona is the cause...she has been acting nicer of late, and wouldn't come after us unless it involved taking out humans. Remember last time lad? She was going to let us live, even though we tried to stop her."

Angela looked down at herself, then at Hudson, and Broadway. "We had better figure out what is causing us to shrink, else we will keep doing it."

Brooklyn looked outside. "Sunrise....we gotta rest first. We shall begin our search tomorrow. Tell Goliath then too."

The group headed outside, and got onto their places.

Angela looked around. "Where's Lexington? He's been gone of late."

Hudson frowned. "I'm sure he's fine lass. He would make sure he slept in a safe place"

The sun rose, and they slept.

Dominique Destine smoothed her red hair. She had once again gone through the transformation that Puck had half-cursed, half-blessed her with. This form had become essential in getting around and furthering her plans. She went into her closet, and took off the skimpy leathers. She looked through her clothes, and picked her favorite business suit, the red one with pumps. She headed outside back into her office. Her hidden office in the Nightstone Building could substitute as her home if she so desired. She had her clothes, work, and artifacts located here.

She headed over to a cage hanging by her desk, which she had placed there for a specific reason. It had flashed while she was in the closet. She found something interesting in it. It was not what she expected to find. She would have thought she would have seen a gargoyle. She sighed, and picked up something tiny from the cage. She placed it on the floor beside the Grimorum, and chanted in Latin. The small thing disappeared.

She sighed and sat down at her computer. Work had to be done. Perhaps her plan would be complete by tonight...already, she had evidence that her lackey was having his effect on the gargoyles and other people, unknown to him. She flipped up her latest report from her company, and started typing.

Curtis had had a terrible night. First, he was going good on robbing that store. Then the monster came in his way. He almost got away, but soon, it leapt in front of him, preventing escape. He grabbed it, but it suddenly started growing! He backed off immediatly, for he was scared terribly. It seemed to keep getting bigger and bigger, but as he looked around, everything was getting bigger too. He blacked out as soon as he was only as big as that monster's foot.

When he woke, he found himself back in the alley. He looked around quickly. It was morning, and he was back in his clothes. He shook his head. It had to have been a very bad dream....he got up and walked further into the alley.

The day passed uneventful. Soon, night fell, and Goliath's clan woke. Angela looked around, trying to see if Lexington was there. She frowned. He was nowhere to be found. She saw Goliath on the top tower, and went up to tell her what has happened. Eliza was there too....so now Goliath's entire clan was informed....save one.

When Angela finished, she added, "Since when we discovered it, none of us have shrunken any."

Eliza nodded. "The first day I had off, two days ago, I came to Goliath in a dress that fit perfectly. As soon as I went to change, my dress came off a lot easier, and my shoes felt like they were anxious to get off my feet! This isn't the same dress...I went shopping for a new one. This fits perfectly, but it's one size smaller than I usually wear. This explains a lot Angela."

Goliath looked at his daughter. She did seem smaller. She had to speaking the truth. "Let's search the city. Spread out and search for anything that might suggest magic. If you see Lexington, tell him everything and have him join in."

Each gargoyle claimed a certain area, while Eliza said she would check out anything that might be going on in the city. Goliath added a final comment, "If you start shrinking, try and make it back to the castle. It would certainly be fatal to be small in this city, especially when the wind currents can effect you."

The gargoyles launched off the castle top, each heading in their own direction. It was Brooklyn who went in Lexington's direction, figuring his patrol route might be where he was sleeping.

Lexington woke with a roar, and immediatly checked to see how big he was. Normal size...now all he had to do was get back to the castle, and tell everyone what happened. But would they believe him? They might, if he could somehow manage to grow before them. Not much, cause he didn't want to embarrass himself by having his loincloth snap off in front of all them! He looked around, saw no one, and jumped off the rooftop. He caught an updraft, and headed towards the castle.

He was getting a little tired of growing and shrinking. He wanted to be a bigger size, not fluctuating between large and small. He wanted to grow a little and stay put. He was questioning whether the angel that helped him had helped him, when he saw Brooklyn in the distance. He flew alongside him, as Brooklyn started talking.

"Lex, where have you been? Listen, we got a problem. Something is making the clan shrink. Goliath has got us searching the city for anything that might be doing this....you can hang with me...cause all the other areas of the city are taken. What happened to you anyway?"

Lex thought up another excuse. He had no idea why he didn't just tell the truth, as he said, "Some punks actually knocked me out, but I got free, and didn't make it back to the castle in time."

Brooklyn sighed. "Next time, be more careful!"

Lex nodded. Could my growing and their shrinking be related? Lexington thought this over, flying ahead of Brooklyn. He had slowed down some, but Lex didn't notice as he continued to soar. He was out flying Brooklyn, who seemed to have disappeared. He turned around, not seeing him. "Brooklyn? Where did you go?" he yelled.

Lexington's stomach started to ache. He nearly lost it, stuttering in the air for a moment. Then he regained himself. What had happened? He got an answer really quick, as he felt himself growing again. He had to land, cause the feeling in his stomach was telling him that he might black out. That was strange, for this spell of the angel's seemed more bad than good. He landed hard, making the cement crack. He was getting a lot larger than he was last night. But why? How long would this keep up? He adjusted his belt for his height, but soon it became too small to wear.

Lexington doubled over, as the aching in his stomach increased. It hurt so much! After about 1 minute, the pain subsided, and he slowly looked around. Everything was smaller.....even Castle Wyvern seemed to have shrunk some. He looked down at himself, wondering what he was going to do. If he was spotted, not only would he be hunted, he would be embarrassed too! He was about 4 times Goliath's height now....what was he going to do?

Brooklyn watched Lex start to fly ahead. He was flying a lot faster than he was going...it figures, since he was smaller. Brooklyn stared at Lexington. Or was he? He peered at Lexington. As he was doing this, the wind was starting to blow his loincloth off of him. He quickly grabbed it. "What the heck?" Brooklyn said, as he looked down at his waist. His belt was larger than his waist. He was shrinking! He quickly called out to Lexington, but he was too far away. He wondered when Lex was going to turn around, but his shrinking started getting quicker. He would never make it back to the castle in time. Lexington got farther and farther away, as he could no longer hold his loincloth. He got caught up in it, and started to fall. He tried to get out, but he was too small, as he got entangled in his loincloth....then, everything went black.
Brooklyn came to quickly. He looked around, to find himself in a mass of brown clothes. He was still in his loincloth, but where was he? The area where he was at was warm, suggesting he was inside. Did he slip into a window? He made his way through his loincloth. He came across the buckle of his belt...he was one-fourth of it's size! He searched around more, trying to find an exit. Finally, he peeked up from the lid of his loincloth, hiding his body from anyone who might be observing.

The first thing Brooklyn saw was bars. He was in a cage? How did he get here? He brought his head out more, and saw he was in an office of some kind. There was a desk, and a large window showing much of the city to the west. There appeared to be no entrance to this room. He looked to another part of the room, and was shocked to see the Grimorum Archinorum laying there. He frowned. There was only one place who could possibly have that book, even if Goliath said it was destroyed....

"A HA. I SEE YOU ARE THE FIRST VICTIM BROOKLYN, " came the almost deafening sound of Demona.

Brooklyn turned around quickly. Demona, as a gargoyle, was standing there, smiling wickedly. She was huge! Brooklyn had to be no bigger than her nose. Her face filled the cage side. She was talking normally, but it sounded like a loudspeaker to Brooklyn. She laughed, while Brooklyn plugged his ears.

Brooklyn yelled, "So what are you up to now Demona? How did you get the Grimorum??"

Demona leaned a little closer. "WHAT WAS THAT? I COULD HARDLY HEAR YOU! PERHAPS IT'S BECAUSE YOUR THE SIZE OF A BEETLE!" Demona laughed. Brooklyn was almost deaf from the loudness of her voice. He tried again.

"I SAID, HOW DID YOU GET THE GRIMORUM, AND GOT A SPELL FROM IT TO AFFECT US FROM SO FAR AWAY?"

Demona smiled. "THAT'S NONE OF YOUR CONCERN. YOU HAVE BIGGER PROBLEMS RIGHT NOW." She laughed again, and walked back over to the Grimorum. Brooklyn was left alone in the cage, as she then went to her computer and started working on it.

"SOON, YOUR FRIENDS WILL JOIN YOU, AND YOU CAN ALL LIVE THERE FOR THE REST OF YOUR LIVES AS MY PRISONERS. ADMIT IT BROOKLYN, I'VE WON THIS TIME!" Demona said from her desk, which sounded a little quieter since she was farther away. Brooklyn frowned. He only hoped the others would find Demona and stop her before it was too late. One thing striked him as odd. Demona wasn't casting any spell. How did she affect the others? It looked like she wasn't doing anything to shrink the clan. So who was? Demona was involved, but how? She is the cause, that was for certain.

He sighed, and started tearing at the fabric of his loincloth, making a smaller one for him. He took a string from his belt, and wrapped it around his waist. Well, at least he didn't have to worry about that anymore.

Demona saw Brooklyn do this, and walked over. She reached in and took away the rest of Brooklyn's loincloth and belt. "YOU WON'T BE NEEDING THIS NOW. IT'S A LITTLE TOO BIG FOR YOU TO WEAR. BESIDES, WE HAVE TO MAKE ROOM FOR THE OTHERS. NOW IF YOU EXCUSE ME, I HAVE TO RESET MY TRAP."

Brooklyn sighed, and waited. There was nothing he could do against Demona right now. She placed a curtain over the cage. Obviously, she didn't want him to see what she was doing. Who was the trap?

Lexington stared down at his huge self. He was still thinking on what he was going to do, when that same ache entered his stomach. He doubled over, and got the fear that he was going to grow again. If he grew any larger, someone would definitely notice him. However, Lexington noticed everything getting larger. He groaned, as he came down to his regular size. He quickly slipped back on his loincloth. What was going on? Lexington sat down and thought this through.

"OK, that angel said she would grant my wish. My wish wasn't to grow that huge and to shrink back to normal, and have the process repeat. So, was that an angel, or some trick? Magic was involved, but who has magic? Let's see, Puck wouldn't have done such things, cause the clan is shrinking too....I'm getting the idea that these things are related. Who else would have magic?"

One person entered his mind..."Demona...." But what would she use to cast such magic? She had to have some source. Lex suddenly got an idea of what was happening. That angel had been an illusion! No wonder he was confused by the whole thing. Xanatos had suspected Demona of placing bugs in the Eyrie Building. Of course! She would have heard his conversation at one point or time when he said his wish to be bigger outside! She must have used spells from some source. After all, she was head of a organization that could almost do anything! He looked towards where the Nightstone Unlimited building was. He couldn't possibly go alone. He jumped off the rooftop and headed towards the Eyrie Building.

Lexington had unfortunately not worked out all the details. He was still wondering what had happened to Brooklyn, and how Demona could affect the clan from her building. It was obvious how she affected him, but wouldn't he just have made him grow indefinitely or shrink to non-existence? What was she doing that made him grow and shrink. He couldn't find an answer as he landed on the Eyrie Building. Everyone minus Brooklyn was there, discussing what they found. All turned towards Lexington when he came in.

Goliath started talking. "Lex, where have you been?"

Lex started explaining his story. "Look, I've been having problems getting home. Demona is the cause. About two nights back, she cast an illusion on me to make me think she looked like an angel, and granted me a wish. That wish was to be bigger. Don't ask, I'll tell you later. Anyway, she did cast that spell on me, and it's been causing me to grow and shrink at odd times. I heard from Brooklyn that you were shrinking too, and Demona must be involved. However, I lost track of Brooklyn when I was flying, and then I grew again. Has he returned?"

Everyone looked at each other. Lex's story had made some sense. Goliath looked in his direction. "Brooklyn has not returned. I have no idea where he is."

Lexington frowned. "I looked for him, but I found no trace of him."

The thought of Brooklyn being shrunk to nothing or being killed cause he was so small passed through the minds of all. "He is somewhere, I know it. Let's head over to the Nightstone Building, and confront Demona," Goliath said.

Lexington felt an almost overpowering feeling in his stomach. He yelled out as he fell on his side, gripping his stomach. "Lexington! What is wrong?" said Goliath.

Everyone paused. Lexington had no idea what was going wrong, and could not see what was going on.

Angela was the first to notice something. She stared down at her clothes. Her belt was coming off her, and the bottom of her clothes was starting to touch the ground. She screamed as she shrunk into her clothes. Everyone looked in her direction, as suddenly she disappeared. Her clothes and everything were not there.

"What the.." Eliza started to say, when she too noticed a change. Her pants were becoming baggy, and her jacket was starting to go past her hands, engulfing them. "Goliath!" she screamed, as Goliath ran over to her. But he stopped, as he was shrinking fast too. He looked down at himself and all around, as noticing that everyone was experiencing the same problem. Hudson's sword fell from his side, along with his belt, since his waist was too small to hold both up. Broadway disappeared beneath his clothes, and Bronx had already gone. However, he saw that Lexington was not shrinking. "Lexington? What is going on! Your not shrinking!"

Lexington was in too much pain to answer. He could hear what was going on, but could not react. Eliza walked over to Goliath, her shoes falling off her feet. Goliath held his loincloth up, as he walked towards her. They knew this was it...this had to be the end. They embraced, until they became so small there clothes came between them. Then, their clothes and them disappeared. Hudson was lost in his clothes, and disappeared. The only one left was Lexington.

Lexington slowly got up. The pain was subsiding, but he still felt dizzy. The others had disappeared, along with their clothes. He couldn't even see them anymore. He went inside. He had to tell someone, perhaps Xanatos. He was going to be returning soon...maybe if he called him on the phone. Lex felt another ache in his stomach...it felt like he was having bad digestion of something. He started walking into the doorway out of the main area, when his head bopped onto the top of the door. He looked up. He had grown again! And he was still growing! His belt snapped off, as his head hit the ceiling. I have to get out of here!, Lex thought. But as he went to the door leading outside, he was too small to leave. He got down onto his knees, becoming too large to stand. He could feel his body knocking over many things as he grew. Finally, he stopped, almost filling up the room. He groaned. He had to wait until he shrunk down to his normal size before doing anything, else rip this room apart.

Lexington sat there and waited. No sooner had 5 minutes gone by when he could already feel himself start to shrink in size. The pressure on the walls decreased. But, he was shrinking as fast as he was growing. He was able to put in loincloth on in 5 minutes, but soon, it no longer fit. He was shrinking like the rest of the clan! There was nothing he could do, as he was engulfed by his clothes. He blacked out.

Demona smiled in glee, as a large flash could be seen. She had guessed Lexington would catch them all at once. She removed the curtain on the cage to see it amassed in clothes. She waited, and could see each of the gargoyles working there way out. Even Eliza Maza was there, as a bonus! She smiled. "So, the mighty Goliath has fallen, in a way I never thought would happen. Be quick and get some clothes...this would certainly be an uncomfortable for you in there, being all cramped up.

Goliath popped himself half-way out of his loincloth. "Demona, what is the meaning of this?"

Demona could hear him just fine. He was playing with Brooklyn earlier, who was buried beneath all the clothes. "Oh Goliath, that always has to be the first thing you say. I decided to eliminate your clan, since you were becoming a nuisance. And what could you do to stop me if you were 1/100 my size?" Demona grinned.

Goliath was having the same problem with Brooklyn, as Demona's voice was near deafening to him. "You won't win Demona! Lexington is still out there!"

Demona smiled again. "Oh, I think he will be arriving shortly. But if I don't remove all these clothes, your probably going to choke to death when he does."

Goliath frowned. Everyone quickly made makeshift clothes out of their original. Demona smiled, and removed them, just as another flash of light greeted them with a small loincloth and Lexington hidden inside it.

"See? I told you. Of course, your all victims of a curse I placed on Lexington. I do have the Grimorum, which I copied from the original. The curse infects one, and acts like vampirism. Whoever is infected, absorbs the size of others to a certain degree, and uses it to enhance his own. It's quite involuntary, as Lexington has discovered. I also placed a shrinking spell on Lexington. Right now, he's still shrinking. But I could control his shrinking, so as to make him look normal when he got close to you. After all, we wouldn't want a 100 ft. tall Lexington rampaging in the city, now do we? And don't think he'll grow again; he only absorbs to a certain size, and your all that size. There's no escape from this cage, and your all going to live here forever. There is no way you can possibly get out of this one Goliath. Have fun! Cause it's the rest of your life! And don't worry Lexington! That spell I put on you will wear off in a few hours, causing you to shrink forever!"

Lexington was angry. Demona had tricked him! He knew she had already, but when he learned of what she had done to him, it really got him mad. However, he was in no position to do anything, as Demona laughed and put a cover over the cage. Lexington looked at everyone. He felt ashamed that he was the cause of all this. All the gargoyles had taken a part of their loincloth and made a smaller one, like Brooklyn, with Eliza having torn off a bit of her jacket and made a loincloth and top out of that.

Hudson came up to Lexington. "Do not feel bad lad. I'm sure you had no idea that this was happening."

Lexington frowned. "I probably would have figured this out if I wasn't so crazy about getting bigger."

Goliath looked around. "We have to get out of here...."

"Yeah, but how are we going to do that? We're too big to leave the cage, and once Demona sees one of us leaving, she'll put us back her the next second," said Brooklyn.

Lexington thought of what they could do. Goliath then had an idea. "One of us has to be small enough to get past the bars unnoticed...." Everyone looked at Lexington. He was in deep thought, and didn't seem to notice. When he looked up, his face went funny.

"What?" Lexington said.

"Lexington, you need to get to Demona. If we shrunk her down too, we might be able to find out how she could make us grow. I might be able to cast that magic," Goliath said. Lexington nodded, hiking up his loincloth. Demona said he was still shrinking, and he could feel it was true. Everyone was larger, and he had to tighten the rope holding his loincloth up.

He looked back at everyone, then peeked out of the cloth hiding their cage from view. What he saw was strange. Demona was standing there, casting a spell from the Grimorum. He saw she had laid out her red dress on the side. He saw her draw a circle in the ground, and step into it. She placed the Grimorum on a pedestal outside the circle, and waited. "I really hate being human more than I have too...but I need to make this late meeting. Thank god it's only for a couple of hours." she whispered.

A brilliant light came up from the circle, engulfing her. Lexington could hear her cry out, as she went through her transformation to a human. Her wings shrank into her back, as her knees and elbows became flat. Her tail disappeared, and her hands had five smooth fingers with nails. Her feet became half-size, becoming human. Her skin turned peach as her canine teeth became smooth. The transformation ended, with her a human. Lexington took advantage of this and flew to her dress. She was going somewhere, and wasn't going to wear her leathers to it. He slipped into a pocket, and waited.

He heard her breathing heavily, which sounded closer and closer. Then, he could feel the dress lifted in the air, and the back of the pocket became solid. He dared not touch it, else warn Demona that he was in her pocket. She felt the side of her angle, then become flat. Must have been putting on her pumps, thought Lexington. Then, the pocket moved up and down slightly. She must be moving to wherever she was going. He figured that he must be having some affect on her size soon. He wasn't feeling any pain in his stomach, but he was close to her. His loincloth fit him now, where originally it had been loose. He smiled...it was working. Not as fast as he liked, but it was working.

Demona put on her dress and shoes after finishing her transformation. She had to make a invaluable meeting, and the only way she could go was as a human. She cast a sunbeam spell, which had the same effect as the sun on a person for four hours. There was nothing she could do to prematurely end the spell. She was glad it was only 4 hours and not for the entire night....if she was human for more than 12 hours, she would probably go mad.

She left her private office and went into her public one through a hidden door. She walked down the hall to where the business meeting was taking place. The sun had set only 4 hours ago at 6, so it was normal for her to be here at this time. She walked in to see various executives in her company going over there notes. They all looked her way and immediatly went quiet.

"Now then, I believe you all know why we're here. Tell me what you've found," Dominique Destine said.

Her research officer stood up and started lecturing. He was head of the science department, and was critical to her efforts in ways to destroy humanity. His name, of course, was Doctor Sevarius.

"Now, if we managed to gain profit from this..." Sevarius said, continuing on a long discussion on what they would need. This meeting was to increase business, so the company could make more money, thus making it more powerful. She sat back and crossed her legs while listening, a tad bored. Sevarius thought that if he helped Demona, nothing would happen to him. He was wrong. On his last project, which was where she had the virus attached to it, it would have killed him, had it not been for that blasted Goliath. She couldn't help but hang the back of her shoe in mid-air. Odd, it almost felt bigger on her feet.

Dominique stood up to talk, placing her hands flat on the table. The cuffs of her sleeves fell over her wrists, something that hadn't happened before. She ignored it, as she questioned Sevarius. "But if we do that Doctor, wouldn't it send us bankrupt? The last thing I want to do is lose my hold in the United States and have to go back to Paris."

Sevarius smiled and continued explaining his idea. Dominique sat down, and slid her feet forward into her shoes. She looked down at them as Sevarius talked...her feet were not touching the back of them. She frowned...something was wrong. Her dress felt loose on her. She could see the cuffs of her sleeves were now half-way across her hands....she stood up, to dismiss this meeting prematurely. Her skirt nearly fell off her waist. She quickly grabbed it and sat down. She then knew what was wrong, for a bulge in her pocket could be seen. Lexington could no longer fit in her pocket, and popped his head out. He was growing, and she was shrinking! If she didn't get out of here, she would embarrass herself and people would start asking questions! Everyone was in the dark on who she really was, and if a full-grown gargoyle bust out of her pocket, there would never be an end to it.

She stood up again. "I'm afraid I have to close this meeting early. I...have something far more important to do, even greater than the company itself. Good night." Everyone looked at her confused as she rushed out the door. She tripped on her shoes, which were much larger than her feet now, on the way out, sprawling Lex out of her pocket. She quickly made a grab for him, something she knew as a mistake after she did it. She put one hand on her skirt and put Lex back in her pocket as she rushed towards the elevator. Even with heels, she had to jump to reach the top button. Thankfully, no one was on the top floor at this hour, as she rushed into her office. She quickly took out Lexington from her pocket, who was about ready to bust out of it.

"YOU! How dare you!" she said, her eyes going blood-red. She immediatly tried to crush Lexington in her hands. Lexington held her two hands apart. It was getting easier for him, and he knew why. His loincloth was barely staying on, as Demona quickly ditched him. He flew to the floor, landing heavily. She quickly ran over to the Grimorum, dropping her skirt in the process. The top of her suit was big enough to cover down to her knees. She was just tall enough to read the proper spell, as she quickly chanted.

"Arc Ta Muri La Es Foran!" she said. A flash surronded her, filling up an area of about 5 feet around her.Dominique quickly grabbed her skirt, as she started growing. She grabbed the Grimorum, as Lexington quickly grabbed his loincloth sitting on a table and put it on. His previous one had snapped off quite some time ago. Dominique said a quick phrase, and a box formed around Lexington. Lexington stopped growing, as his head hit the top of the cage. Dominique smoothed out her dress, as she stopped growing.

"You think you could escape, didn't you? Well, I'll have to shrink you so small you won't exist!" Dominique said, as she started chanting. Lexington knew she had the power to do that, and tried to break free.

Goliath heard what she said. "Everyone! Get close to me!" Quickly, the gargoyles and Eliza gathered around Goliath, as he spoke the magic phrase.

"Arc Ta Muri La Es Foran!" he screamed, as the Grimorum flashed in front of Dominique's eyes. She was interrupted in chanting, and had to restart at the beginning. A flash formed around Goliath, covering everyone.

The gargoyles watched the cage get progressively smaller. Goliath tore the cage apart as he became strong enough to do so. Angela and Eliza quickly scrambled to their clothes, because their smaller versions were about to snap off. The other gargoyles put on their loincloths, while Dominique was preoccupied with casting her spell. Her voice was loud, covering the noise the gargoyles were making. Goliath snapped on his belt. "It ends now Demona."

Dominique whirled around, interrupted again in chanting. Her eyes went wide as she saw the full grown gargoyles. "No! You couldn't possibly have gotten out! You have won this round Goliath. But don't plan to win the next!"

Goliath made a leaping grab for the Grimorum, but Dominique quickly said a phrase, as the gargoyles were teleported back to their castle. Goliath crashed into a wall that suddenly appeared in front of him, as the other gargoyles teleported more smoothly. Lexington looked around, and saw no one shrinking. "I think that spell just wore off...cause I'm not growing, and your not shrinking."

It was true, for after a quick height check, everyone was back to their original size. "Demona now has the Grimorum, and will probably use it from now on to further her gains. We must get it back from her...but that will happen another day," Goliath said. Eliza walked up and kissed Goliath. "Well, don't worry big guy. I'm sure we'll get it."

Goliath smiled. Broadway and Angela looked at each other, and kissed each for the first time at normal height in days. As the broke, Angela said, "Yes, we are normal size. Didn't have to reach up or bend down."

Broadway smiled, and all went back inside. Lexington was still there, looking at the stars. He hadn't looked at the sky, and looked at the first star he saw.

Star Light, Star Bright,
First Star I See Tonight,
I Wish I May, I Wish I Might,
Get The Wish I Wish Tonight

Lexington sighed. He still wanted to be bigger, but this time, he would be more cautious. He walked back inside slowly, as the star he saw flashed briefly.

EPILOGUE

Broadway walked into the bathroom, and got onto the scale. He crossed his fingers, as the meter once again zoomed passed dizzingly. But, as it slowed it's rapid movement, what he saw made him glad. He HAD lost weight! He quickly dashed towards where Angela was in the library.

Brooklyn and Lexington locked up. "OK, I'm positive I can take you!" said Lexington.

"Dream on. You couldn't beat me then, and you can't beat me now," said Brooklyn full of confidence.

Lexington said go, and the match begun. Instead of the normal match, where Lexington would lose immediatly, it became pretty even. Their arms swayed, as each tried to take the other down. However, Brooklyn was starting to get tired. He tried one last desperate effort to down Lexington, but that wasted his remaining energy, giving Lexington the win. "I WON!" Lexington yelled, running down the halls and spreading the news.

Brooklyn smiled. That because I let you, thought Brooklyn. Should make him happy.

Goliath and Eliza landed upon the top tower. They had had one of the most splendid dates. If only Goliath was human, then they could actually enter the places they went! A dinner atop a restaurant, which the people who worked in there wondered why Eliza ordered take out....a moonlit flight over the river....a walk in Central Park, where Goliath must have stopped three muggings....all in all, a extremely good night.

The sun was rising, and the other gargoyles were assuming their position. Eliza and Goliath kissed each other for the last time that night. Goliath got into position, as the sun rose. The familiar cracking of stone echoed in the air. The gargoyles slept, all of them where they should be...Eliza smiled and walked down the tower, heading home for a good night's sleep.

Author's Final Note: Well, what did you think? Please e-mail me at daniels@naplesnet.com. Coming up next, Demona wishes Goliath knew what it felt like to be her, especially when she loses to him. She gets a devious plan that could destroy the Gargoyles, but threaten her company as well. You might be asking yourself, why would it threaten her company? You'll see, in "Trading Places"

Can it get more obvious? :) Visit my homepage at http://www.geocities.com/TimesSquare/5491/
