THE STORY SO FAR: In Manhattan, Brooklyn, Lexington and Bronx realized that the Quarrymen are back. Hudson and Dingo are trapped at Area 51 and are told that they will be `experimented` on. In outer space, Nokkar and his team which consists of Goliath, Angela, Elisa, Gabriel, MacBeth, King Arthur and Griff teleported into the enemy's space station. While fighting off alien troops, Griff earned a wound on his right wing, Nokkar noticed that his Captain's ship had been blown up and Gabriel loses his life.

Nokkar pounded on the control console. Sparks flew out of the portion
that had blown up when it was hit by a laser. Hanging his head, he mumbled,
"My Captain is dead... No!" He looked down from the tower at the battling
Gargoyles and aliens.
Elisa and MacBeth were wrestling with aliens while Griff was babying his wound off in the corner. King Arthur had walked over toward Goliath and Angela who were grieving. They looked at Gabriel's dead body.
Nokkar was surprised at how many of the alien troops were down...or dead. He ran to the lift and pushed the button to lower it down to the floor. Pushing the armored alien troopers out of the way, he yelled, "Goliath! We have to go!"
Goliath looked up at him.
Nokkar stopped and, out of breath, said, "Goliath, my Captain's ship has been destroyed."
Goliath said, "What?" Angela looked up at Nokkar.
"I am very sorry for your loss but we have to find the enemy's Captain and destroy him as well." Nokkar pointed to a door across the room. "And he is right through there."
Goliath took a deep breath and said, "Okay, let's go." He knelt down and scooped up Gabriel's body. "We will clear a path." He pulled out his laser gun and yelled, "Elisa! MacBeth! King Arthur! We need some help!"
Goliath carried Gabriel with Angela walking beside them while Nokkar ran for the door and Elisa, MacBeth and King Arthur fought off the remaining aliens.
Griff straightened and saw everyone walking the other direction. He said, "Hey. What's going on?" He ran over toward them and watched Nokkar blast the door open with his gun.
Nokkar entered the room and the short, slimy alien Captain stood up. Before the Captain could reach for his gun, Nokkar blasted a hole right through him, killing him instantly. Blue liquid was thrown up against the wall behind the dead Captain. Nokkar said, "Now we both lose." Turning to his team, "We need to get to the escape pod immediately."

The sun set behind the Manhattan skyscrapers and cracks began to appear on Brooklyn's stone layer. He stretched and roared sending little stone chips flying all over the place. He stood on the parapet of Castle Wyvern and scratched the back of his shoulder. Broadway climbed to the top of the parapet and jumped next to Brooklyn. "What a beautiful evening," Broadway said with a little worry in his voice. He feared for his love, Angela.
Lexington and Bronx arrived at the top as well and joined their fellow rookery kin. They were all silent as they stared out over the city.
Broadway said, "What are we gonna do? Goliath, Angela and Hudson are gone and the Quarrymen are back. We're gonna have a tough time defeating them by ourselves."
"I know," Brooklyn replied. He was Goliath's second-in-command and had to rule the clan while he was away. Hudson had pushed him to make decisions over a year ago when Goliath was traveling the world and fighting off Oberon's Children. Brooklyn was able to do it then. He could do it now.
Brooklyn reached down and patted Bronx on the top of the head. "We can do it." Broadway, Lex and Bronx looked at him. "If we did it once, we can do it again. Though the Quarrymen are tougher than who we fought last time Golaith was away...Fang, and MacBeth and his goons...we can still do it."
Lex and Broadway looked at each other with smiles. Bronx groaned happily. Brooklyn smiled, and said, "Our lives won't end. We'll take care of our city while Goliath's gone. Even if he's gone forever, we'll protect it."
Lex said, "Brooklyn, don't say that. Goliath, Angela, Hudson and Elisa WILL be back. They'll be back, sooner or later."
Brooklyn said aloud, "Come home, Goliath."

Nokkar pushed buttons on the control panel and finally triggered the door locks. Now he and his team were locked in a small room with a teleportation device and a door that leads into the escape pod. "I am getting all of you back to your own planet before this battle gets out of hand anymore than it already has."
Working at the control panel, he said, "Oh, no."
The team looked at Nokkar wide-eyed. Goliath, still holding Gabriel's dead body, asked, "What?"
"Because I killed their Captain," Nokkar started, "the aliens have shut down all the power in the teleportation disk. There is only enough residual power to send two of you back."
Elisa asked, "What about the escape pod?"
Nokkar said, "That just sends you away from the space station in an emergency. It does not take you anywhere specific. That is what the rest of the team will have to do, because you surely do not want to stay here." He hesitated. "We are running out of time. Which of you are going to teleport to Earth?"
Goliath looked around at everyone. Staring at Elisa, he said, "Send Angela and Elisa."
King Arthur said, "Aye. Woman and children first."
Elisa said, "No Goliath. I can't leave you here. I'm staying."
"Elisa go!" Goliath demanded. "You have a family to return to."
"So do you," Elisa added.
"My clan can protect the city without me. Besides, Brooklyn is my second-in-command. He will take over the clan."
Elisa said, "Yes, but they love you."
There was a blank look on Goliath's face. "Elisa go. I will find another way to get home."
Nokkar felt like saying, `Don't count on it,` but didn't.
Angela stepped on to the teleportation disk and said, "Send me to Avalon." She looked at Gabriel's body which Goliath was still holding. All she could think of was his death. "I have to stay with my rookery kin, and the Princess and the Guardian."
As Nokkar pushed the `go` button, Angela said, "Tell Broadway to come to Avalon." A tear dripped down her face. "Good bye, father." Then she disappeared in a flash of yellow light.
Goliath began to get choked up.
Elisa hung her head and stepped on to the teleportation device. Sobbing, she said, "Good bye, Goliath." She wanted to kiss him like she did after the Hunter's Moon incident but didn't. "Send me back to Manhattan, Nokkar." Goliath and Elisa stared into each other's eyes as Elisa faded away.
Goliath set Gabriel's body down and roared. He cried as he put his face in his hands. He realized that he might never see Elisa again. Griff put his hand on Goliath's shoulder to comfort him. Goliath pushed him away.
There was a pounding noise on the door that Nokkar had locked. "They are trying to break in," Nokkar said. "I can send you all out into space in the escape pod but I don't know where you will end up."
MacBeth, King Arthur and Griff looked down at Goliath. Goliath wiped his face and sniffed. Standing up, he said, "We have no other choice. It is either that or stay here and die."
Nokkar worked at the control panel and opened the door to the escape pod. Inside, there were six small chambers. They were suspended animation chambers. Nokkar opened those as well and Goliath leaned Gabriel up against the inside of one. King Arthur and Griff stepped into the one's next to that. Across the escape pod, MacBeth climbed in a chamber. There were two chambers left. Goliath yelled back as the aliens began to brake through the door, "Nokkar! Come with us! Hurry!"
Nokkar said, "No! Someone has to stay and launch the pod!"
The door broke open and aliens entered the teleportation room firing. A laser caught Nokkar in the back, knocking him down. A green liquid poured out of his wound.
"Nokkar!!!" Goliath yelled.
"...Go..." Nokkar grunted. He dragged himself up to the control panel as aliens grabbed him. Goliath climbed into the chamber. Nokkar pushed the large, red launch button. The chambers closed and the three Gargoyles and two humans in them were immediately frozen in time. Suspended animation.
The door to the pod locked and closed just before an alien entered it. He pounded on the door trying to get in but the pod had already launched into space carrying the five beings who belonged on Earth.
Nokkar couldn't struggle any longer. He didn't have the strength. Lying up against the control panel wounded and surrounded by alien troops, he said in English, "Now, so you guys don't escape as well and terrorize someone else..." He reached up and pushed the `self-destruct` button.
Nokkar just laughed at the aliens as the count-down began. "We will die together!" He had to take a breath. "Die you stupid...as they say on Earth...`sons of b--`"
Nokkar couldn't even finish his sentence before the space station exploded. The intergalactic war was over and neither side won. Nokkar had been stationed on Earth for millions of years for nothing. His army didn't win. All he accomplished was killing aliens and separating Goliath's clan. Now his clan was spread throughout the planet Earth. Goliath was the furthest away. He was lost in space...

Brooklyn stood alone on the top turret of Castle Wyvern. The cool evening wind blew through his hair. Broadway arrived at the top of the staircase with food in his mouth and saw Brooklyn. "You're still up here?"
"Yeah."
Lexington and Bronx were close behind Broadway. As they stood together as a clan, there was a loud crackling sound. They looked around but saw nothing. Brooklyn spread his wings, ready to attack. He said, eyes glowing, "The Quarrymen."
But, little did he know, it wasn't the Quarrymen at all. It was totally the opposite. A yellow light flashed and Elisa appeared in front of them.
The Gargoyles jumped and, in unison, said, "Elisa!!!!!"
"Hi, guys."
They welcomed her and was glad she was back.
Brooklyn asked, "Where's Goliath?"
"And Angela?" Broadway added.
Lex said, "And where's Hudson?" Bronx moaned as if he had asked the same questions.
Elisa hung her head and the smile disappeared from her face. "It's a long story." She said, "Hudson's trapped at Area 51, Angela's back on Avalon and Goliath's...probably lost in space."
The Gargoyles were stunned! What happened? Elisa had A LOT of explaining to do.
The Gargoyle clan living in Manhattan had been torn apart. Goliath's off in space, Angela's on Avalon and Hudson was captured by government agents and is at Area 51 in Nevada. Indeed the title of this saga says it all: "Separation Of Powers". The clan's `powers` have been `separated` and spread all over the place. Watch for the upcoming stories in the "Separation Of Powers" saga to find out what happens to the clan and the Gargoyles' lives with these dilemmas.
......stay tuned......
