"Oberon Comes, Prophecy Revealed" By Pippin Sgaileach
Manhattan, New York
A few minutes before sunset
The golden orb that Humans call the sun was setting on the city of Manhattan, and the people were scurrying about, all attempting to get inside their homes before the darkness dawned.
High above the city atop a castle placed upon the tallest building in the world, perched monsters. Well, not monsters. Gargoyles. Stone statues faced the east, west, north and south directions of the city as though they were watching something. Or waiting.
Waiting.
Waiting for the sun to set.
One gargoyle was facing the east, staring intently, a snarl of hate frozen on his stone features. Almost as though he was cursing the sun, the light, and the day itself.
Maybe it was the fact that he could not see the sun, and was trapped in a world of darkness that made him grimace like that. It is almost an impossible thing to do to tell how a gargoyle is feeling when he turns to stone.
The sound of cracking filled the air. Small, then larger, cracks began to form on the stone bodies of the gargoyles.
Their leader, a huge dinosaur of a gargoyle, was the first to break free of his stone imprisonment. He roared, his cry shaking the walls that he perched on.
The others followed suit. First a female, then the turquoise male next to her burst free with powerful animal cries. They stretched luxuriously as their companions awoke, sending stone shards and cries of battle out into the night sky. A small green one with his wings attached to his arms roared and stretched, turning to see the gargoyle beside him doing the same. His companion, a blood red male with an ivory white mane of hair turned and grinned at him. Then he turned to see the other two gargoyles, an old brown male and a blue gargbeast, stepping down off the parapets and preparing to go inside.
The red one felt a tap on his shoulder. He turned to see the turquoise male and the lavender female standing behind him with the green one.
" Hey, Brooklyn, you have to sit and eat one of Broadway's dinners tonight remember? You lost the bet last night." The green one grinned and elbowed the turquoise one, named Broadway. " Try not to kill him big bro." Broadway glared at him and Brooklyn slapped his forehead in a manner that said damn, I forgot about that!
The female, named Angela, giggled.
" Don't worry Brooklyn, I'm eating it too." she said. Brooklyn raised an eye ridge and snorted.
" Oh, yeah," he said sarcastically. " I guess that means you're my insurance policy, huh? Whatever happens to me happens to you." Lexington threw back his head and laughed.
" Very funny Brooklyn," Angela said. She grinned as they all turned to go inside, Broadway and Angela side by side, followed by Brooklyn and Lexington.
The four of them walked through the hallways of the castle, laughing merrily.

Avalon
Lord Oberon was watching through Titania's mirror the progress of his wife's grandchild, Alexander Xanatos.
He frowned. Things were not going that well. Of course the child was doing well enough, but not as well as the Lord of Avalon expected.
~Perhaps I should reconsider my decision,~ he thought. ~ Perhaps I should train the boy myself.~
Suddenly, Oberon sensed another presence in the great hall with him. Black fog began to seep in through the windows, and the doors slammed shut, and the black fog came in under the doors. Oberon stood up and shouted.
" What is this?!" he roared, leaping to his feet. He began to hurl bolts of magick into the fog to prevent it from coming closer. Suddenly, and enormous pressure overcame his mind, and he let out a scream of pain. The fog suddenly began to be sucked toward Oberon, and lightning flashed around his body. He writhed in agony as he felt the presence enter his mind. He could hear the screaming laughter of something purely evil, and Oberon felt the terror rise within him as he realized that the entity was taking over his body. His eyes widened as he saw what the entity had planned for his body. He tried to fight but the spirit was too powerful. He let out one last cry of despair and rage.
" NOOOOOOOOOO!!!!!!!" the mouth of the Lord of Avalon screamed as a new soul possessed him. He fell into the chair, and his head rolled back and his eyes closed. He lay like that for a few seconds, and then his eyes snapped open. He sat up and an evil smile curled at his lips. He stood up from his throne. He looked one last time at the image in the mirror, and then, with a wave of his hand, the image vanished.
He looked about, still smiling that same smile. Then he vanished.
Lady Titania, Oberon's wife, watched him vanish then did so herself.

The Eerie Building
Four Hours After Sunset
Goliath was in the library, reading a copy of Macbeth, by William Shakespeare.
~ How ironic ~ thought Goliath as he turned the pages ~ That the Macbeth in this book is nothing like the Macbeth I know and they are the same person ~
He glanced up at a slight cough from behind him. He spun around to see Elisa Maza standing behind him, smiling.
" And I thought you had better ears than that," she commented with a laugh. He smiled warmly.
" Elisa," he rumbled softly, or as softly as his voice would go for him. " What has brought you here tonight, I thought you were working?"
Elisa smiled at him as he embraced her lovingly.
" Oh, I don't know," she replied. " I just got the feeling that I should be here tonight. I couldn't seem to ignore the urge to come here. It wouldn't go until I walked in the door."
Goliath frowned. " I have been restless all evening, and Owen seemed to be particularly on edge as well." He thought for a moment." Before Brooklyn and Lexington left for patrol earlier this evening I noticed that Brooklyn was acting rather peculiar. Broadway said it must have been something he ate." Goliath chuckled.
Elisa grinned. " So Brooklyn lost the bet last night. I heard about that." Goliath nodded.
Elisa was about to say something when an explosion rocked the castle. She cried out, and Goliath growled.
" Perhaps this is the cause of our restlessness," he growled. The two of them ran out of the library. They tore down the hallway, and met up with Hudson, Broadway, Angela and Bronx.
" What's going on?" Broadway asked, his eyes darting around the hallway.
" I do not know," Goliath replied, his eyes starting to glow. " But I intend to find out."
" So do I," Hudson agreed, his own eyes starting to glow. A sudden shout attracted their attention. They headed toward the sound, and what they encountered was a major surprise.
Puck was floating in midair, his eyes glowing, an aura of magic surrounding him. In front of him stood Oberon, King of the Sidhe, holding Alexander hostage.
" Oberon!" Goliath shouted in rage. " What is the meaning of this?!"
" I have come for the boy," Oberon growled.

West Side of Manhattan, New York
Twenty Minutes Earlier
Brooklyn and Lexington were gliding above the city on silent wings, watching the activity below.
Lexington glanced over at his friend, a frown on his face. Brooklyn had been pre-occupied all evening. Ever since he had eaten Broadway's 'dinner', he had been acting funny.
~ It's like he's waiting for something to happen ~ Lexington thought. He finally broke the silence.
" Hey, Brooklyn, what's the matter? You've been acting funny all night."
Brooklyn turned to look at him and was about to answer when an enormous pain ran through his body.
He gasped, clutched his ribs, then screamed as he started to fall, his strength failing him. Brooklyn groaned, and shuddered, too weak to open his wings and glide, let alone move at all. He closed his eyes and felt the wind rushing around him.
Brooklyn squeezed his eyes shut tighter, and a vision flashed before his closed eyelids.
**************************
It was of the castle, and it was on fire. In the midst of it stood Oberon, holding a squealing Alexander in his hand. He was pointing his other hand and blue electricity was coursing out of it into someone's body.
Brooklyn focused closer on the shadowed figure and saw that it was Fox, Xanatos' wife.
His vision blurred and he heard shouts and screams, he saw his clan fighting Oberon, and then everything started to collide together and jumble so much he couldn't make anything out.
He saw different scenes, some with Lexington, others with Goliath, Hudson, Angela and Elisa, several with Broadway, Fox and Xanatos, and they all mixed together until one last scene appeared before his eyes.
It was of himself, his eyes glowing like two small suns, bright yellow. However, two small, blood red pupils were barely hidden in the yellow glow. He was wearing some strange armour, and he was surrounded by a black aura and flames were rising around his feet.
The last part of the image he saw was himself raising his arm, and total blackness surrounded it as he grinned evilly, with Oberon cowering in the background. He looked closer into the eyes of the image of himself. The blood covered his vision.
Brooklyn screamed.
***********************
Lexington watched as Brooklyn screamed and shut his eyes. His own eyes widened as he saw his rookery brother start a downward plunge to the ground.
" Brooklyn!" he yelled as he saw that his brother was not opening his eyes.
With lightning speed Lexington swooped down and caught the red gargoyle, trying to keep him up. However, it was kind of hard for him to do that, seeing as how the structure of his wings prevented him from using his arms when gliding. At that moment though, Brooklyn screamed again and woke up.
" Lex!"
************************
Struggling free from Lexington's grip, Brooklyn screamed. " Lex!" he shrieked. " The castle! Alex is in trouble!"
With that, Lexington came fully to his senses, slightly dazed that Brooklyn didn't thank him for saving him. " What?!" he hollered. ~ If someone is attacking the castle how could Brooklyn know? ~
" Fire! Oberon!" Brooklyn yelled again. " He's come back for Alex! I SAW IT!"
" What?!" Lex yelled again. But it was too late. Brooklyn turned and began to glide at top speed back to the castle, which was glowing an eerie orange.
~ Dear God ~ Lexington thought. ~ He's right! The castle is on fire! But how could he know? He wasn't even looking over there when it happened.~
Brooklyn was pulling farther and farther away from Lexington. He shook his head and followed his rookery brother, his eyes beginning to glow.
~ If Oberon is there and he even lays a FINGER on Alex I'll tear his throat out ~

The Eerie Building
Twenty Minutes Later
Goliath roared as a lightning bolt struck him for the fourth time. He hit the ground with a thump and rolled reflexively.
Hudson leaped at Oberon from the other side, and was also thrown back. Oberon sighed.
" Why must you stall Us any longer?" he questioned the gargoyles. " We will not be changing Our minds this time." He blasted a couple more bolts at Bronx and Angela.
He hurled another one at Broadway as he prepared to attack, and missed.
" What's this 'We' 'Us' and 'Our' crap?" Broadway said, annoyed. " There's only ONE of you." Puck appeared next to him.
" Thank God there's only one," Puck replied. " Personally, I think my Lord Oberon has an identity crisis happening."
Broadway snorted. " I know." Oberon turned on them, enraged.
" You mortal dare insult Us?" he screeched. A huge ball of energy appeared in his hand and he let it loose with a howl of rage.
" Look out!" Puck shouted at Broadway. Puck leapt in front of Broadway and countered the deadly ball of magic with a burst of his own. Magic dust showered down on the both of them. Broadway looked up from where he was crouched and grinned shakily at the little fae.
" Thanks," he mumbled. Puck grinned wearily.
" No problem," he replied. Then the two were blasted apart by another attack from Oberon.
" Broadway!" Angela shouted and rushed to his side. He groaned and looked up at her.
" Angela?" he asked weakly. She smiled at him. Then she turned slightly as she heard something behind her. Oberon floated behind her in midair, frowning. She stood to face him, Broadway sheltered protectively behind her. She growled, her eyes glowing a hellish red.
Oberon sighed, and prepared to blast her with a powerful burst of magic but was knocked to the ground by Brooklyn and Lexington. The two gargoyles veered back up into the air, preparing to attack again.
" Hey, guys!" Brooklyn called. " Need some help?"
" Brooklyn! Lexington!" Angela shouted, a look of hope crossing her face. " Thank God you two are here! We need some help!"
At that moment Oberon got back up. He screamed in rage and attacked them with his magic.
Brooklyn heard a strange whooshing noise behind him, and he turned to see a huge blue ball of light heading toward him and Lexington.
" Lex, look out!" he shouted, and pushed Lexington out of the way. The ball of energy hit him square in the back and he screamed in pain. As he fell electric shocks erupted inside him, and it felt as if every organ and cell in his body was exploding. He faintly heard Lexington shout his name but it didn't register in his mind. He hit the ground headfirst and as he rolled over to get up, everything went black on him.
**************************
Lexington heard Brooklyn shout his name, and felt his rookery brother push him out of the way of Oberon's energy blast. He heard a meaty thump as the blast hit him, and then Brooklyn screamed in pain.
" Brooklyn!" he shouted and dove to catch him, but Oberon hit him again and sent him skidding along the ground.
Both Lexington and Brooklyn hit the ground at the same time, but while Brooklyn passed out, Lexington remained conscious.
Barely.
Lexington groaned, and tried to get up. He turned his head to see Oberon walking toward him with a smirk on his face. Suddenly, a shot rang through the air. Oberon, and Lexington both jumped. They turned to see Elisa standing with her legs apart in a defensive stance, pointing a gun at Oberon. She glared at him.
" Back off pal," she warned. She raised the gun a little higher, pointing it at his head.
Oberon snarled. " The weapon may be iron but the bullets are not!" he shouted, and with a wave of his hand, sent Elisa flying back. Just then, both Fox and David Xanatos attacked Oberon with fury, Fox's eyes glowing an eerie green and David's face pulled into a grimace of hate.
" Let our son go you bastard!" David shouted in rage. His iron Goliath - imitated armour protecting him from most of Oberon's magic.
Fox blasted Oberon with her own magic, which sent him flying back. David caught him and, with a perfectly executed move, flipped and sent the King of the Sidhe hurling through the air. Lexington leaped forward and grabbed Alex from Oberon's grasp as the powerful fae was thrown through space. He turned and bolted back to where Fox and David stood glaring. They smiled though, when Lexington handed their baby to them. At that moment Goliath, Elisa, Hudson, Broadway, Angela, Bronx and Puck joined the green gargoyle and the Xanatos'. Panting, Broadway asked an unanswerable question.
" How the heck are we gonna beat him? He's not gonna quit this time."
The others all watched warily as Oberon regained his feet and began to walk menacingly over to them.
" Give me the boy," he snarled, his eyes glowing green with fae magic.
" At least he's not saying 'Us' anymore," Broadway hissed to Puck.
The little fae managed a small grin. With a wave of his hand, Oberon froze them in place, and smiled a nasty smile.
" If I cannot have the boy, I will destroy him, and all of you." It was a statement, and now there was nothing anyone could do.
Oberon lifted his hand, building up an immense amount of energy to hit them all with, and wipe them off the face of the planet. They all cringed as the huge wall of energy raced toward them, but just before it hit them a strong voice cried out,
" STOP!"
The wall of energy vanished, and they were unfrozen. They turned to see who their savior was, and they saw....
*********************************
Brooklyn groaned, and opened his eyes. There was a cloudy feeling in his head, as though it was stuffed with cotton. He looked up, and saw his friends standing in defense of Alex Xanatos. His eyes widened as he saw Oberon freeze them in place.
" If I cannot have the boy, I will destroy him, and all of you," he heard Oberon say.
~ No ~ Brooklyn thought. His eyes began to glow. ~ No you WONT destroy them Oberon. I wont let you.~
He felt his head clear suddenly, like it had been filled with dirt, and water just washed it away. For some bizarre reason two names suddenly came into his mind.
Aneurin. Hester.
~ What?~ he thought. ~ Where did those names come from? They feel familiar ~
Then one more entered his head and a powerful feeling entered his body.
Aurora.
~The names of the first gargoyles ~ He knew it like he knew the back of his hand.
~ But there is no possible way I could because I would have to be a- ~
Suddenly, there was a voice in in his head, and it spoke in three voices, which made it seem really warped.
" A descendant of ours," the voice finished his thought for him. He looked around, trying to find the owners ( it would have to be more than one person, there were three voices ).
" Where are you?" Brooklyn asked, his voice barely more than a whisper.
" We are not on your earth plane, child," they said. " But we have come to help you with your problem."
" My problem?" Brooklyn asked. Then he looked at Oberon. " Oh, that."
The voices chuckled, and then one stood out from the others.
" Brooklyn, I am Aneurin, the Guardian of Heaven's Gate. I must warn you, if you choose to use this power to help your friends, you must accept everything that comes with it. The good, and the bad things. You were born to do this job, and you must get it done, or else your world is doomed." Her voice faded as another rose up to replace it.
" Do not let the power overcome you, my son," came a strong male voice. " You must not fear it, for I am here to help you use it."
Brooklyn shuddered as he felt the power erupt into him.
" Fear nothing," the voice continued. " For I am Hester, the star of the Lord's eye. I am Guardian of the Souls of all, and our Lord has entrusted me to protect, instruct, and care for you in your training. Fear nothing, because you are safe with me." The voice snorted, turning humourous. " Nice speech, huh?"
Brooklyn's eyes widened as he felt his soul expand to limitless horizons, and beyond.
Suddenly, the third voice, the one which had been the most quiet, rose up in a scream.
" I am Reality!" the voice of the last female howled. " The first Dark Mage that ever was, and the granddaughter of the evil one Himself! I am Aurora, and it is I who will awaken your true power in this time of darkness! You are a Dark Mage, descendant of mine, so prepare yourself for the coming of ultimate power!"
Brooklyn screamed as he felt his mind open to different dimensions; he felt the power of the elements earth, air, fire and water. He could feel the emotions of everyone in the world, and hear their thoughts, he knew what they felt. He knew each persons' weakness, each strength, each obsession, love, hate, everything. Then, he realized what he was supposed to do. He had to save his clan. His friends.
Brooklyn opened his eyes, and saw the wall of magic hurtling towards them. He looked down, and realized he was standing. He couldn't remember getting up though.
His head snapped up and he shouted,
" STOP!" in a loud, clear, strong voice. His hand shot out and he felt something reach out and grab the wall. He couldn't believe it. He closed his fist, and the wall vanished, the smoke it left behind evaporating into his hand. Oberon turned to him, enraged. Brooklyn blinked, and the others were able to move again.
Brooklyn's glare hardened, as he stared at Oberon with his grey eyes that thundered with anger. He hissed.
******************************
Oberon took a step back, noticing that the gargoyle was not afraid of his power.
He concentrated on the red gargoyle, trying to sense what was in his mind.
What he met was not what he expected. Such a wall of resistance blocked him from reading the gargoyles' mind that it sent Oberon reeling backwards into the wall, where he left a dent. His eyes began to glow again, while the gargoyle just stood there, glowering at him with distaste clear in his eyes.
~ How dare he defy me?~ Oberon thought, enraged. ~ He is just a mortal gargoyle. He will pay for his disrespect! ~
With a sudden movement, Oberon roared and threw a fireball at the red gargoyle with the storm grey eyes. The huge fireball hurtled toward him, growing every inch of the way.
The gargoyle watched it come with unaffected eyes. Lexington screamed his name. Then all Hell broke loose as the Dark Mage let the world know his power.
****************************
Goliath and the others watched the two enemies stare at each other for a long moment.
~ What is going on here? ~ Goliath thought.
Brooklyn and Oberon were obviously going to fight, and that was natural, but why did Oberon stop the wall of magic and unfreeze them?
Puck swallowed suddenly. " Holy shit," he whispered. His eyes were wide in his face.
Broadway turned to look at him. " What is it?" he asked, frowning.
Puck started backing away. " We have to get out of here," he mumbled. " Or we're all toast."
Now Lexington was confused. " What do you mean-" he started but was interrupted by a roar of rage from Oberon. He spun to see a huge fireball being hurled toward his rookery brother. He hitched in a breath to yell.
" Brooklyn!" he screamed, thinking his brother would be swallowed up and burned alive by the fireball.
" No!" Goliath yelled in anguish. But something wasn't right.
The ball of fire was coming toward Brooklyn at an incredible speed, and, as the others watched, something weird happened. The fireball seemed to be being sucked into the ground at Brooklyn's feet. It swirled around him like a twister of flames. It flared up as it surrounded him, and when it went down Brooklyn was still there, but he looked different.
Lexington reeled back in shock. Angela whimpered and clutched Broadway's arm. Goliath swallowed in fear.
~ He looks like a monster ~ Goliath thought.
His eyes were glowing like two small suns, a bright gold. The pupils were still there, barely. They were a blood red, nearly swallowed up by the golden glow. His teeth were bared, and seemed to shine of their own light. They were long and pointed, like a vampire's fangs. He was wearing some sort of strange armour, which included a mask, long shoulder armour, and he had somehow aquired several more horns going down his neck. His wings had grown immensely; they were about the size of Goliath's wings, which made them huge compared to him, since he was the same size he was before. His tail had several sharp looking spikes on it, and it had lengthened considerably.
He raised his head, and smiled nastily. " Hello, Oberon," he said, his voice sounding like a car going over loose gravel.
****************************
Brooklyn was really enjoying this. If Oberon could only see the look on his face!
He was kind of ashamed though, for scaring his clan. Lexington, Hudson, Goliath and Broadway were staring at him in shock, while Puck was shaking with pure terror. Xanatos, Fox and Alex were staring at him in surprise, and Elisa, Angela and Bronx were nearly paralized with fear.
~ Do I really look that horrible? ~ he wondered as he heard Goliath's thought. He decided to ignore them for the moment.
He smiled nastily. " Hello, Oberon," he hissed. His eyes glittered with an intensity that surprised even Brooklyn himself.
~ Yo Hester!~ Brooklyn thought. ~ What do I do now? Aren't you supposed to tell me what to do or something?~
Hester's voice thundered through his head. " Believe in yourself, Brooklyn," he said, and laughed. " Go with the flow. What you believe is what you can do. Trust me. I should know. Hey, I rhymed!"
~ Great ~ Brooklyn sighed inwardly. ~ Here we go ~
He let out a shriek of rage and raised his fist in the air. A huge ball of energy surrounded it.
" Spirit Bomb!" he yelled, as he made a throwing movement, and the ball of energy hurled from his hand heading straight for Oberon.
*****************************
Oberon was confused.
The gargoyle just stood there for a moment, glaring at him. Oberon wondered what he was thinking. Every time he tried to access the gargoyles' mind, something would block it.
Suddenly, without warning, Brooklyn let out a battle cry, and raised his fist in the air. Oberon tensed, his eyes widening as he felt the power rolling off the gargoyle in tidal waves.
" Spirit Bomb!" the gargoyle shouted, and hurled a huge ball of energy at him.
Oberon's eyes widened as the huge amount of energy came flying at him. He turned, and tried to leap out of the way but was too late. The spirit bomb hit him full in the back. Oberon screamed as he truly felt the immense power of that blast. He hit the ground with a thump, and rolled. He wrapped his arms around his ribs, and winced as the pain rolled off him in waves. He glanced back at the gargoyle, to see him gathering himself for another go at him. Oberon's eyes widened again at the mark on his mask. A strange mark was glowing brightly on his mask, a mark that Oberon recognized immediately, even though he had only seen that mark once.
~ Dear God, if there is one ~ Oberon thought in fear. ~ He's a Dark Mage! ~
************************
Lexington looked at his rookery brother in fascination. Brooklyn looked frightening, but he could still see the same gargoyle he grew up with under that mask.
" Brooklyn," he whispered, his voice filled with awe. He watched as the red gargoyle drew back his hand and yelled " Spirit Bomb!" and threw a huge ball of energy at Oberon. Oberon went down and Brooklyn prepared for another blast. Lexington saw Oberon's face contort in fear, and he felt a feeling of satisfaction well up in himself.
~ You go, Brook ~ he thought with a grin. ~ Kick his ass! ~ Then he voiced his opinion.
" Go Brooklyn!" he yelled at the top of his lungs, startling Goliath and the others. " Kick his ass all the way to China!" He pumped his fist in the air and hooted, jumping up and down. Suddenly, a dizzy sensation coursed through him and he dropped to his knees. A black lightning bolt in his mind made him stop in his tracks. His eyes widened as all light disappeared from his field of vision.
" Lexington," a voice called in his head. Lexington turned around in his mind, trying to see who had called his name. A tiny light to his left attracted his attention. He turned quickly to see three gargoyles, one male and two females, standing there, staring at him.
" Who are you?" he asked, backing up in fear. The male, a silver beaked gargoyle who looked a lot like Brooklyn, spoke up.
" I am Hester, the Guardian of Souls, star of--" he was cut off by one of the females, a pure gold one with long silken hair that looked like spun gold.
" Enough with that, my love," she said teasingly. " We have frightened the lad enough, we need not do anymore." Lexington looked at her as the male grinned a maniacal grin.
" And who are you exactly?" he repeated, somewhat annoyed, but more confused.
The female smiled. " I am Aneurin, and we mean you no harm." Lexington raised an eye ridge. He didn't quite believe them.
" Then what do you want with me?" he asked. The three gargoyles exchanged glances.
" We are here to inform you of your cousin's power," Aneurin said. " You are to help him defeat the evil that controls Oberon, and face future enemies that threaten the realm of Earth. You are a part of his power, in a way that you will soon understand." Lexington frowned, obviously not having any clue as to what she was talking about.
" You must listen to us, and trust us. Your cousins' life depends on it." Hester said, taking a step toward him. " The evil inside Mr. High and Mighty Oberon is too strong for him to face alone. Your cousin needs you, or he will not survive."
Lexington sat up straight, frowning. ~ Cousin?~
" What do you mean?" he snarled. " If that's a threat..." The gargoyle named Hester laughed.
" No my boy," he laughed. " It's not a threat. We are just telling you that in the future, he's gonna need you."
" Huh." Lexington grunted, casting a wary eye at the three. The three looked up, and a look of worry crossed their faces simultaneously. Lexington frowned again.
" What's wrong?" he asked. Hester glanced at him.
" Well, your cousin is in a bit of trouble." He shrugged. " The evil one is too powerful for him, especially in Oberon's body. I think he's gonna need some help." Lexington's jaw dropped.
" What?" he asked incredulously. " What do you want me to do?!" The third female, a sapphire female with grey eyes spoke up.
" You must use your power to help him," she hissed, her eyes glowing. " Your power combined with his will defeat the entity that has entered and taken over Oberon. You and your cousin must call upon your powers to defeat it."
Lexington shook his head in frustration. " What the hell is this 'entity'? And why do you keep calling Brooklyn my cousin?!" he shouted. The three of them cocked their heads in a similar fashion.
" Because he is," Hester said with a smile. " Now you know why you would do anything to protect him."
" WHAT!?" Lexington nearly screamed. Hester looked around and began to fidget.
" Well, I'm going to tell you what I told the kid," he said nervously. " I'm here to help you, guide you, and train you in whatever you need. Aneurin here is the history and future whiz, so ask her about that when the time comes. No pun intended." He paused.
" And Aurora can answer any question you have about your heritage."
" You better go help your cousin," Aneurin advised. " I think he needs it right now." And with that, the three vanished.
Lexington swore. ~ Okay, well, here I go ~
He opened his eyes, and screamed.
" Brooklyn!"
*********************
Brooklyn screamed in pain as a lightning bolt from Oberon caught him in the side.
~ Damn!~ he thought. ~ That hurt! ~ Then he ducked as Oberon attacked again. Then he heard Lexington scream his name.
~ Things aren't going so well ~ About ten minutes ago Lexington had gone into a strange trance. When Brooklyn had looked into his mind he caught a scene of Hester, Aneurin and Aurora talking to him.
~ I wonder what they want with him ~ he had thought.
Then Oberon had hit him, caught him by surprise. He had been flung across the courtyard, and thrown bodily into the wall. He swallowed blood in his throat, and coughed. He got groggily to his feet, and stared at Oberon with rage. Since that first hit Brooklyn had been getting weaker. It seemed that every time he got hit, he would lose a bit of power. He tensed, preparing for another blast at Oberon, when he felt a prescence beside him.
He turned, and sucked in an astonished breath at what he saw.
" You....."
***********************
Lexington woke up to see Brooklyn thrown across the courtyard. He gasped, and leapt to his feet. ~ Why was I lying down?~ He ran toward Brooklyn, toward his cousin, to help him.
" Brooklyn!" he yelled, reaching out for him to help him. Brooklyn tensed, not noticing him at first, his eyes on Oberon. Then he turned, and looked at him. No, looked through him. Lexington shuddered inwardly.
~ What was that about? ~ he thought. Brooklyn gasped and stared at him in shock.
" You..." he whispered. Lexington stared at him, wondering what the hell was going through his cousin's mind.
~ My cousin ~ he thought vaguely. Brooklyn seemed to hear him, because he started and said " WHAT?!"
" You're like me, aren't you?" Brooklyn asked him suddenly. Lexington nodded.
" My cousin?" Lex nodded again. Brooklyn raised an eyeridge. " Hot shit," he said with a grin. Then he turned back to Oberon. His eyes began to glow again. Lexington did the same. He allowed his eyes to glow white, but instead they glowed a gold, like Brooklyn's.
He swallowed as Oberon locked eyes with him, and grinned as he started back in fear.
~ So he knows too. How many of us are there? Maybe we'll find that Broadway or Angela is one of us as well.~ Brooklyn glanced at him.
" I doubt it Lex. It just wouldn't work. Angela's pretty, but not as pretty as our grandmother." Lex had to hold back a laugh. He looked over at Angela, and she was glaring at them with a look on her face that said when this is over I'm going to kick your asses. He snorted and turned back to the task at hand. He looked at Brooklyn and Brooklyn looked back at him.
~ You got a plan ?~ Lexington asked him telepathically. Brooklyn grinned and thought back, ~ Oh yeah baby. I sure do ~
********************
Goliath watched in fascination as Lexington joined Brooklyn on the battlefield. He now realized that it was Brooklyn who had set them free, but he didn't understand how he could do it. As far as he knew, Brooklyn was just an ordinary gargoyle. He started in shock when he heard that Lexington and Brooklyn were related by blood.
~ What? How can that be? ~ he thought, taking a step back. ~ They do not look anything alike. ~ He paused in thought for a moment. Their eyes were very much alike. In fact, they were exactly the same, now that he thought about it. Dark grey, with flecks of silver in them. He also heard the comment about their grandmother being more beautiful than Angela. He frowned. ~ I'll have to talk to him about that ~ he thought.
Then the two of them went silent. They looked as though they were communicating silently. Suddenly, without warning, the two leaped at Oberon. Brooklyn went left, Lexington went right. Oberon tried to follow both of them but they were too fast. With feral screams, Brooklyn and Lexington both dove at him at the same time. Oberon tried to turn and blast them but he was too slow.
~ Remember Lex ~ Brooklyn thought telepathically to Lexington. ~ Feel the energy currents, use them to your advantage. Speed is our advantage, he can't see us if we move as energy.~
~ Right, coz, ~ Lexington answered. The two of them vanished, becoming beings of pure energy. They zipped up, high above Oberon, where they reappeared in a flash of light.
Oberon looked up, and gasped as he saw the two gargoyles hovering above him, eyes glowing and fangs bared.
Brooklyn lifted his hands above his head and a ball of energy formed, glowing an electric blue. Small forks of lightning sparked from it as it grew in size and intensity.
************************
Lexington glanced at Brooklyn, then proceeded to create his own attack. He pressed two talons on each hand, palms out, against his temples. His eyes began to glow brightly, and his entire body began to glow.
************************
Brooklyn arched his back, his hands reaching higher, and the ball of light turned a crimson red, like Brooklyn's own flesh. He let out a low groan as he tried to control the immense power of the glowing ball.
************************
Lexington's whole body was glowing a bright white, and then light suddenly began to focus in front of his eyes, creating a ball of white lightning in front of his face.
************************
Brooklyn screamed in rage suddenly, and spun around in mid-air. With a baseball throwing movement, he hurled the ball of energy at Oberon with all his might.
" Lightning!" he yelled as he let loose the energy ball. It flew at Oberon without mercy, a chunk of energy powerful enough to hurt him badly.
********************
Lexington roared as his power reached it's peak. He heard Brooklyn scream the name of his attack and followed suit.
" Solar Flare!" he screamed, and the next instant a bright light blasted from his eyes and filled the sky, blinding everyone in the vicinity. ( Note: "Solar Flare" is from DragonBall Z and I do not intend to get sued. I just liked the sound of it.)
Oberon screamed as Brooklyn's lightning and Lex's solar flare blasted him into eaons of pure agony. He felt his flesh split in places as the lightning cut him, and he tried to cover his eyes from the bright light only to find his hands had nearly melted off. He screamed again and fell to the ground, writhing in agony. He looked up, and the last thing he saw before he passed out, was Brooklyn and Lexington descending from the sky, and then everything went black.
*******************
The dark entity that had entered Oberon's body flowed out of Oberon, and, turning into a spiral, it vanished, screaming it's fury and promising revenge.
*******************
Brooklyn looked at Lexington, who was panting from the amount of energy he had put out. Brooklyn swallowed and grinned at him between gasps.
~ Good job coz ~ he thought to Lex. ~ That was quite a blast ~
Lexington grinned back. ~ Not too shabby yourself Brook ~ he thought back. ~ Well, let's go make sure big bad Oberon wont be jumping back to fight anytime soon.~
Brooklyn nodded, and the two of them began to float down to where Oberon was laying, unconscious. They landed softly, and stood over the fallen King of Avalon. A dark black cloud erupted from Oberon's body, and the two gargoyles heard a shriek as it turned into a spiral and vanished.
" Holy shit," Brooklyn hissed, letting out a breath. " What was that?" Lexington frowned.
" I don't know," he answered. " But maybe that was the reason Oberon attacked. I guess that was the 'entity' Hester, Aneurin and Aurora told me about."
Brooklyn nodded slowly. " I guess." Lexington frowned and looked at Oberon, almost feeling pity for him.
" Do we really have to kill him?" he asked. Brooklyn shook his head.
" Not if we don't have to coz," he said. A slight rustle attracted their attention. They spun around to see Goliath and the others standing behind them, battered and bruised in some way or other. The two looked at each other nervously.
~ How do we explain this to Goliath?~ Lex asked Brooklyn telepathically.
Brooklyn shrugged. ~ I have no idea ~
********************
Goliath had stood there, watching the battle unfold, and when it was over, he found he was afraid to go over to Brooklyn and Lexington.
~ How could they achieve this?~ he wondered. But, since he really wanted to know the answers to all the questions in his mind, he walked over to them, followed by the rest of his clan.
Brooklyn and Lexington turned to look at him. He shuddered inwardly, but pressed onwards. He saw them look at each other, then back at him.
They were all silent for a moment. Then Brooklyn spoke. " Uhh....Goliath, I know this is a bit shocking for you, but...." he trailed off.
" But," Lexington decided to finish for him. " we're not what we seemed to be. We're called Dark Mages, and we have a ton of magic, to put it simply."
Goliath raised an eye ridge. " I can see that." he said. Lexington blushed.
" We didn't know," Brooklyn said suddenly. " We didn't know, Goliath, I swear. This is the first I knew about this, and we--" Hudson interrupted him.
" It's all right lads," he said. " We know ye dinna know aboot this. We believe ye." The two of them sighed, relieved.
" Well, what are we going to do about HIM?" Elisa asked. Brooklyn shook his head.
" I don't know," he answered. " It really wasn't his fault. Some dark entity took over him, and made him attack us. I don't want to kill him, but...." he trailed off, not knowing how to finish.
" I will take care of him," came a soft voice from behind them. They turned to see Titania, Queen of the Fae, standing behind them.
" Mother!" Fox shouted, angry. " Did you plan this?" She held Alex close to her own body, trying to protect him.
" No daughter, I did not. I did, however, know that this would happen." Goliath glared at her.
" What do you mean?" he asked.
" There was a prophecy that spoke of this event," she said. " It was written over six thousand years ago, and is the oldest of all prophecies. It was told that two gargoyles, related by blood, would defeat my Lord and Husband Oberon when he was possessed by a demon of incredible power. They were offspring of the very first gargoyles created, and possessed an immense amount of power. They, like all children of Aurora, are Dark Mages."
While she talked, the clan had been listening intently, their eyes widening every few seconds. Then Goliath spoke.
" And what exactly is a Dark Mage?" he asked.
" They are children of Aurora, who is the granddaughter of Satan. Her grandmother, Lilith, gave birth to Hester, while lesser demons and angels birthed Aneurin. Then, Hester and Aneurin mated, which resulted in the hatching of Aurora. Brooklyn and Lexington have extreme power, which was granted to their great Mother by the Evil One himself."
She stopped and looked at them, waiting for any other questions. Apparently, there were none, because no one said anything else.
Suddenly, Oberon groaned, and began to wake up. Brooklyn and Lexington tensed, ready to fight. Titania immediately went over to her husband, and said something to him quietly. He growled and turned his head away. Titania looked at them, her face filled with sadness, and fear.
" He will not live to see another dawn if he is not healed." She said bluntly. Brooklyn and Lexington looked at each other.
~ Should we?~ Lexington asked. ~ I mean, he might attack us again ~
~ He might, or might not ~ Brooklyn answered. ~ He was possessed by a demon, remember? Let's try it ~
~ Okay ~
The two of them walked over to Oberon, and knelt beside him. " Here we go," Brooklyn said nervously.
He put his hands out and touched Oberon on his forehead, and Lexington touched his shoulder. A soft glow coated Oberon, and slowly his wounds began to heal. A few minutes later, and it was done. Oberon opened his eyes, and looked at them. He sat up quickly, and tried to back away from them. Brooklyn and Lexington stepped back to give him room. Oberon examined himself, to see what happened to his wounds. When he saw they weren't there, he looked at the cousins incredulously.
" Why?" he asked. " Why did you heal me, when you could let me die?"
Brooklyn shrugged. " I don't know," he answered. " It just didn't feel right, to let you die like that. We just want to know why you attacked us."
Oberon sighed. " I do not know. I felt that I could do well to teach the child at a faster rate than Puck has."
" Hey!" Puck said indignantly.
" My decision had not been final when an evil power consumed me," he continued. " I did not know what I was doing."
Lexington raised and eye ridge. " Well, what do you say?" he asked mischievously.
Oberon sighed again. " I apologize for what I have done," he said quietly. Lexington nodded.
" That's good." he said. Then Oberon stood up.
" We must take our leave of you now," he said. " Perhaps we will meet with you again."
" Oh great," Broadway muttered. " Here he goes with that 'we' shit again." Oberon shot him an amused glance, and then he and Titania vanished back to Avalon.
Goliath turned to Brooklyn and Lexington. " We have much to talk about," he said, with a look in his eye that unnerved the two gargoyles.
~ Uh-oh ~ Lexington thought at Brooklyn. ~ Think he's pissed about that comment about Angela?~
Brooklyn took a moment to read Goliath's thoughts before he answered his cousin.
~ Yep.~
THE END
So, what do you think? I don't like the ending myself, it's too boring, but I can't think of anything to do with it! I don't care, but tell me what you think!
