DISCLAIMER Okay, let's get this over with shall we? 'Gargoyles' belong to Disney and Buena Vista and I have no permission whatsoever to use the characters they own. This is an unofficial fanfic and I am not trying to get myself sued by writing about these characters. Whatever. Anyway this is my first fanfic in this series and it probably sucks but that's my problem. This unofficial fanfic is in no way related to the timeline of The Goliath Chronicals. So there. I'll be writing more in the future but for now this will have to do and I hope you like it. I just have one more thing to say and that is I LOVE GARGOYLES and I hope they live forever ( not in the literal sense, of course). Oh, well if you're taking the time to read this you're probably sick of me babbling so ON WITH THE SHOW!!! ( in a moment) This is actually going to be the beginning of a series, and it is also my first fanfic in this series. Thanks for reading this! Muhuhuhahahaha!!!!!!!!!! --------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- The Magechild Saga Prologue: History of the Dark Mages From the beginning, or, from the very first Gargoyle's hatching, there has been a legend. I will get to that legend in a moment; for now, however, I will tell you of the history of the magnificent creatures known to us as Gargoyles. Gargoyles were borne from angels and demons; the protecting instinct inherited from the good, balanced with the frightening features and tempers of the evil, created a race of beings far superior to the Humans that our Lord created from His own image. They were the best of the best of Earth's creatures, each beautiful in his and her own way. They were all different, and though they were special, they were not given names. However, an exception was made for the first two, and their daughter, and only the children directly related to them know the names of their ancestors. Like Adam and Eve, these two gargoyles were also thrown from the Garden of Eden, for they too ate the fruit of the Tree of Knowledge, and became aware of good and evil. The Lord punished them in two ways; First, no longer were they allowed to see the light of day, and were turned to stone as long as the sun was upon them, and cursed was the rest of their race to this punishment. Secondly, they were banished into the World. Although, it was long before Eve tempted Adam to bite the apple, and they were punished more severely. They learned to live off the Land that was given them, and survived. The two gargoyles, a golden female who was christened with the name Aneurin, which means 'truly golden', laid her first egg by the silver male Hester, who was named from the stars. Their first child, which hatched one week before the Summer Solstice (July 23) and ten years after Aneurin had laid it, was born under the sign of Cancer, and her ruling planet was the Moon. She is ruler of the element Water. She was named Aurora, as she was the color of sapphire, with a mane of silver hair, and storm grey eyes. In the meanwhile, the angels and demons birthed more of these creatures, and the population grew, though none were more beautiful and graceful as the first children and their progeny. The Lord of the Underworld, whose name I shall not speak ( lest he appear behind me in a cloud of red smoke) one day four years after the egg hatched and Adam and Eve were expelled from Eden, he left his realm and entered the new World of Man. He searched out his children, and saw his granddaughter, Aurora. She was beautiful, in his eyes, and he loved her instantly. He then decided to bless the child with His horrific and evil powers. He gave her the power to possess and rule the element Water, and gave her strength beyond imagining. He decreed to all that the descendents of his granddaughter would have the strength and power of the elements they were born under, and much more besides. " And through the generations, Their power will increase tenfold! The children's children be blessed, And with my grace, shall live! With the paths they choose, My blessing is upon them. For thee who dare to stand And threaten the Children, Thy life has been forfeit to me!" When the Lord of the Underworld announced this, and gave unlimited power to the child, the World feared. For though the child was borne of an angel, she was also the product of a demon. She was of direct lineage to the Dark One himself. The fear that she may follow in the evil path of her grandfather was a constant thought on the minds of all God's creatures. She had the power to create, or destroy. Not all creatures, though, feared her. Gargoyles accepted her, for they were of her kind as well. Man, however, feared her. It was through her that the fear and hatred of the Gargoyle race surfaced. The stories of the demon creatures called Gargoyles were passed down from one generation of Man to the next, and even after those stories were long forgotten, the fear and hatred remained. And though the Gargoyles protected Man, they were still unaccepted. Very few Humans saw the goodness in them, and remembered that they were born of angels too. When she mated with another gargoyle, her grandfather rejoiced. For he knew, that through her child, his power would live on. Many, many years later, Aurora's child mated, and the blood line continued on through the centuries. Until it came to the final, most powerful descendents. Brooklyn and Lexington, of Clan Manhattan, formerly of Clan Wyvern, Scotland. The Legend Ever since the Dark One, Lord of the Underworld, granted Aurora a power that would soon be called 'Magepower', her descendant's power grew tenfold, with each child stronger than the last. They were called Dark Mages, because only one descended from Aurora could hold that much power and not be destroyed by it. They possessed telepathy, telekinesis, they could channel the elements, steal the souls of others, hypnotize others, and much more. Oberon himself could not stand against the fury of a Dark Mage, and feared to cross the path of one. However, it was impossible for any experienced Fay, human, or mortal gargoyle to sense a Dark Mage. The magic that gives them their power protects them from being discovered. One night, many hundreds of years past the time when Aurora lived, the first Lord of Avalon ( whose name I don't know) did cross the path of a Dark Mage. The fight turned into a battle that would have made World Wars One and Two look miniscule in comparison. Many lives were lost, including that of the King of the Sidhe, and the gargoyle. With his last breath, the gargoyle cursed the Children of Avalon with a prophecy. " For my life has now been lost Into the Kingdom of Heaven My Word lives on! Warning, to the Children of Avalon! Come the night when my power has grown in my children, and they have the might To wipe you from existence! On an island of stars, the Sidhe King shall steal the child, and the avengers shall rise, to fall the power of Avalon and her King! Beware! for the last Dark Mages will be called to protect, and vengeance will be mine! Cursed be the Children of Avalon!" Some said the prophecy was folly, and brushed it off as a dying monsters' raving. But the son of the Lord of the Sidhe worried. Oberon, new King of Avalon, knew the power the gargoyle had in his body. And the souls' dying wish is a powerful thing, even stronger when the soul is made from magic. And so, in the year 956 A.D, two gargoyles hatched, with the power to overthrow Oberon from his throne, if need be. The first gargoyle was the color of blood, with an ivory white mane of hair. Two backwards sloping horns protruded from his head, and a large beak was where his normal mouth should have been. The other; an olive green male with webbed wings. They were hatched, and grew up not knowing of their power, or heritage. One thousand years after being cursed in a stone sleep and awakening on the island of Manhattan, New York, the gargoyles and their surviving clan lived in a castle above the clouds. Five years after awakening, and having one encounter with Oberon, King of the Sidhe, the gargoyles' power still hadn't awakened. But the Lord of Avalon will once again attempt to take what is not rightfully his. The avengers will rise, and the power will surface. The prophecy will run it's course. Brooklyn, Lexington, the last of the Dark Mages; the prophesied Avengers; the only ones with the power to save thier clan and prevent Oberon from stealing the child mage, will come into thier power and battle the Lord of Avalon. Brooklyn and Lexington, the last of the Dark One's children. They are more than what their clan took them to be. They were borne from the Mists of Darkness. Saviors. Brothers. Friends. Killers. Children of Hell, come to life. " Wrong rules the land, and waiting Justice sleeps." Josiah Holland
