History:

Angela was born on the island of Avalon in the 10th century, one of the 36 eggs brought from within the rookery of Castle Wyvern to the mystical isle by the Magus, Tom, and Princess Katherine. She grew up without ever knowing who her parents were, and was raised happy and carefree on the island paradise. She formed a close bond with Gabriel.

One tragic day, without warning, they were attacked by the Archmage, the Weird Sisters, MacBeth, and Demona. Having no real fighting skills, they were quickly routed. Only through the intervention of Goliath, Elisa Maza, and the newly restored King Arthur was the clan saved. In the process, Angela, having no doubt been told stories of the noble Goliath by Tom, grew fascinated with him and decided to leave with him and Elisa on the skiff, to find her place in the world outside her home.

She helped Goliath and Elisa immensely through their travels from place to place, being a cunning warrior and a good friend to both.

Two important revelations happened during these travels. At Loch Ness, she learned from Dr. Sevarius that Goliath was her biological father. Having been raised by humans, she had not had typical gargoyle values imbued in her, and this caused difficulties between the two as she saw him as a human child saw her parent, while he saw her as a child of the entire clan, not subject to special treatment or favoritism.

The second revelation was that Demona was her mother. This added immensely to the difficulties in her life. Goliath at first tried to keep Angela from learning the truth about Demona. He refused to acknowledge Demona as her mother and tried to 'protect' Angela from her by keeping her away. Goliath feared that Demona would hurt Angela as she had hurt so many others, including him. But Angela eavesdropped on a bitter conversation between the two and Thailog in Paris and learned that Demona and Goliath were once in love.

She had never directly experienced Demona's evil, so she could not truly understand her mother's evil nature or Goliath's anger towards her. Angela also felt sorry for Demona, as she knew how Thailog had treated her. They had their first minute glance of each other in the Notre Dame cathedral before Thailog flew off with a bewildered Demona, who did not know that the clone had betrayed her. Later on in the night, she confronted Goliath with the need to know if Demona was her mother. He did not answer, so a saddened Elisa told her the truth. This left her shocked, confused, sad and no doubt a myriad of other emotions.

When the company on the skiff finally returned home, Angela was immediately well-received by Brooklyn, Broadway and Lexington, who had not seen another female of their species for 1000 years. She put up with their rather lovestruck attempts at courtship, which usually degenerated into arguing among the Trio, with only her keeping a cool head. Finally, however, she grew angry and told them to back off and slow down, and that she liked all three of them and would choose one if she wanted to.

Weeks later, she again had a chance to get to know her mother, when Demona was captured and imprisoned in the Labyrinth. She guarded her mother for months and in that time learned the true depth of her mother's evil and her centuries-long struggle of being alone over the centuries. But Angela still believed there was good in Demona, however small, and she refused to believe that she was unreachable. Her opinion was unique.

This changed for a while when it appeared Demona had betrayed her and her clan to be captured by Thailog and cloned. But Demona showed a spark of love in her when she freed the clan to save her daughter. In the resulting conflict, Demona apparently died. Despite the fact that they knew of her immortality, the gargoyles had no knowledge of how much damage she could withstand. Angela grieved for her lost mother.

Some time later, her body was used as a shell for the soul of the mate of Coldstone. Broadway's body was used as a shell for the soul of Coldstone himself. Her soul was dormant as the two mates experienced physical sensations for the first time in a 1000 years, re-affirming their love through their bodies. When their souls left, things were very awkward for her and Broadway, and this event may have catalyzed the possibility of romance between the two.

During the events centered around the Hunter's Moon, Angela nearly died as the result of the Hunters' attack, but she was saved by Elisa Maza. She was no doubt a main reason why Demona failed to break the canister of the magical virus that would destroy all life, including her daughter, who was the only thing in this world she still felt love for.

In the aftermath, Broadway and Angela kindled a romance and became a growing couple, much to Brooklyn's chagrin.

In the Goliath Chronicles, Angela sighted Demona again weeks later, and defended her against the bitter clan's opinions on her. During an ambush by the Quarrymen, Demona aided them and afterwards, against Goliath's wishes, Angela flew to meet her. They bonded once more, proving to Angela that Demona might indeed be saved.

It was to her utter shock and disappointment that Demona later set Goliath up to be destroyed by the man known as the Assassin. Demona had planned to save the clan and install herself as fully reformed in Angela's eyes. Angela reacted bitterly, and after the scheme was thwarted, she practically gave up on Demona in anger and pain. Despite everything, Demona really did truly love Angela, and swallowed her tears as Angela flew away once again out of her life, perhaps for good this time.

Angela still loves Demona, and hopes for Demona's redemption, and she is quite possibly Demona's only hope for giving up her centuries old hatred and evil ways. His former mate remains an uneasy subject for Goliath to discuss around her. Angela is currently a loving daughter and a welcome part of the Manhattan clan.

In Greg Weisman's Master Plan, Broadway and Angela would eventually have three children, who would be named Gwenyvere, Artus, and Samson.

Powers, Abilities and Weaknesses:

Angela possesses all the abilities and traits of gargoyles, including superhuman strength, wings that enable her to glide, claws and talons that can dig into solid steel, a prehensile tail, and eyes that glow red when she is enraged. A weakness could be her naivete in the often harsh ways of the real world as opposed to the simpleness of her life on Avalon. She also gives Demona the benefit of the doubt at her peril, though that is a blessing on Demona's part as well as a risk to her.
