History:

Anubis is one of the immortal Children of Oberon. He was worshipped as a god by the ancient Egyptians during their existence, making him at least over 4900 years old.

He, like the rest of Oberon's Children, was banished from Avalon in AD 995. It is unknown what he did over the years, but in 1995 he was summoned by the Emir to the Sphinx in Egypt using a spell in the Papyrus of Thoth.

The Emir tried to force Anubis to resurrect his son, whom had been killed in a "pointless car accident." Anubis refused, saying that "the Jackal God cannot play favorites." The Emir threatened him with leaving him imprisoned in the Sphinx, for, as a result, there would be no more death. Anubis still refused, so the Emir prepared to cast another spell from the Papyrus of Thoth, one that would transform the Emir into the avatar, or vessel, of Anubis. The Emir cast the spell, despite the attempted interference of Goliath and the Avalon travelers, but Jackal, who admired the Jackal God as "the original model," intercepted the energy form of Anubis as it flowed towards the Emir, and he became Anubis's avatar.

Using Anubis's powers, Jackal destroyed Coyote 3.0, turned Hyena and Wolf into babies, made the Avalon travelers old, and wiped out the entire population of a nearby city. Thanks to Goliath, however, the Emir got a hold of the Papyrus once more, and used it to transfer Anubis's spirit to himself from Jackal. Once the two were one, the Emir realized that Anubis was right, and that the Jackal God cannot play favorites. After repairing the damage caused by the Jackal/Anubis avatar, the Emir/Anubis avatar collapsed the temple room that Anubis had been summoned in, sealing off the temple and the Papyrus from the outside world, and presumably killing the Emir, so that the power of Anubis could never be used in such a manner again.

Anubis apparently reformed his normal self afterwards, as he attended the Gathering. He, like the rest of the Children of Oberon, is presuambly on Avalon at present.

Powers, Abilities and Weaknessess:

Anubis had control over the energies of life and death, allowing him to, if he wished, make people and objects younger or older, or possibly kill living beings instantly. He was apparently connected to the object known as the Papyrus of Thoth, as its spells could bind and transfer his energies to mortals, turning them into an avatar. It is unknown what other abilities he may possess, but he most likely has many of the other abilities and vulnerabilities of the other Children of Oberon, including creating many other magical effects, levitating, and having a vulnerability to iron.
