Arin MacDuff was a normal human woman up until she moved back with her father, Lennox MacDuff (a.k.a. Macbeth), to Brooklyn Heights, when she was saved by Brooklyn from an rape attempt. They became fast friends. She, or rather the entire Clan Manhattan, found out when she mentioned Fox being her half-sister on her mother’s side that she was half-fay. They began fearing that Oberon would find out about her, and indeed he did, bringing her and Brooklyn rather reluctantly to Avalon, where she was ordered to join the Court of Avalon. She thrice refused, and he cursed her. Brooklyn mistook his spell as a death sentence and attacked Oberon, only to be thrown into Oblivion again (last seen in "The Gathering" Part II). Titania, having plotted this all along, "cursed" Brooklyn for interfering, granting him a first premonition. The morning they returned, she turned to stone along with the clan. If that didn’t make matters worse, that night, when they awoke, she too awoke, as a gargoyle.
Adjusting to her new form was difficult, but she managed as best as she could. Since then, Brooklyn and her have become more and more romantically involved, though it seems that their relationship may have been fated.
Arin MacDuff possesses all the normal abilities and traits of gargoyles, including wings that enable her to glide, claws, talons, a prehensile tail, and eyes that glow red when she is enraged. During the day, she enters a regenerative "stone sleep," during which she turns into an organic stone-like substance and heals at a faster rate. Further, when she feels threatened or panicked, her fay heritage comes out, enabling her to cast fay-based spells.
