Boreas is the leader of the New Olympians, and head of New Olympus's ruling Senate. He is a reasonable and wise leader, concerned primarily with the well-being of his people.

In 1996, when Elisa Maza stumbled upon their isle thanks to Avalon, he initially decided that she should remain on New Olympus. However, he was later convinced by Maza's gargoyle friends, and his security chief, Taurus, who was impressed with the human woman, to permit her to leave. He realized that soon New Olympus would not be able to hide any more, and would have to make peace with the outside world.

In Greg Weisman's master plan, a New Olympian delegation would be sent by Boreas to meet with the United Nations. Also, a son of Boreas would have been a part of Jove's faction, which wanted humans to worship them as gods.

Boreas possesses wings that may enable him to fly or glide. His main ability, however, is his wisdom as the leader of New Olympus. He also carries a staff capable of creating electrical bolts, but he seems to use this most as a means of calling order to a disorderly Senate.
