Canmore was the son of Duncan, prince of Scotland. He was born in 1032. He and his cousin, MacBeth's son Luach, were childhood friends and playmates, but this was shattered in 1040 when MacBeth and Duncan battled, and his father was slain. MacBeth spared Canmore's life, despite Bodhe's warnings that the boy would be trouble, and had him sent to English relatives. Secretly, Canmore took his father's mask of the Hunter, and plotted revenge.
17 years later, when Canmore was 25, he told the English royalty of the "evil" Scottish gargoyles which had helped lead to his exile. He managed to get a military force to back up him in a takeover of Scotland. As the Hunter, Canmore attacked MacBeth's stronghold at Castle Moray twice. The first time, he was soundly defeated thanks to Demona's gargoyles. The second time, she had been convinced to abandon the king, and Canmore's troops successfully stormed the castle.
Outside of Moray, Canmore confronted a fleeing MacBeth and Gruoch, and revealed his identity to the king. MacBeth offered him a chance for escape before fighting him, but Demona interrupted, allowing Canmore to run MacBeth through. This seemingly killed the gargoyle as well. Canmore spoke of rumors that MacBeth and Demona were linked that were proven true, as it seemed that when one died, both died. He also stated how it as a good thing that they had destroyed the other members of Demona's clan. His revenge satisfied, Canmore left the grieving Gruoch with her husband's dead form.
Canmore battled his former childhood friend, Luach, when MacBeth's son inherited the crown. He slew Luach as well, and became king of Scotland.
Historically, Canmore ruled until 1093 as Malcolm III. Why his descendants still hunted the Demon after he believed he had already killed her is unknown- perhaps some unseen incident reignited the vendetta, but nothing has been said of such an occurrence.
Canmore was a skilled warrior, proficient in various weapons and combat techniques. He had no obvious weaknesses, and no superhuman abilities.
