First Appearance: "Cloud Fathers"

History:

Coyote is a Child of Oberon, one of that particular breed of fay known as tricksters, like his brothers, Puck, Raven, and Anansi. Coyote spent his 1001 years in exile from Avalon in the Southwestern United States, as a figure of legend in several Native American religions. He became linked with the Maza family when a young Peter Maza wore his mask at a dance of gratitude to the Kachina Coyote. However, a part of Coyote was lost when Peter Maza left the reservation he had lived on in 1960.

Thirty-six years later, soil carvings of the trickster were deliberately threatened by David Xanatos, in the hopes that Coyote would defend them, and Xanatos could capture him and bend him to his will. Coyote's first overt action against Xanatos was to wreck several of his bulldozers, and arrange them into an odd pattern. He then manipulated events so that Peter and Beth Maza could help him, and also protected them from later danger. Eventually, with the help of the Avalon travellers, Xanatos, and Coyote 4.0, the latest version, designed to capture the trickster, were defeated. Coyote left, having successfully re-awakened Peter to his heritage.

Coyote next appeared at the Gathering. He is presumably still on Avalon.

Powers, Abilities, and Weaknesses:

Coyote the Trickster has all the typical abilities and traits that are possessed by the Children of Oberon. He can create any magical effect he desires, though more powerful ones usually require a rhyme or spell. Coyote can change shape, preferring the forms of a young Peter Maza or a whirlwind. Like all of the Third Race, he is vulnerable to iron, which can restrain or harm him.
