History:

An Egyptian noble, his son was killed in a "pointless car accident." Thereafter, the Emir became determined to bring his son back to life, at any cost. He eventually determined that if he could bind the Jackal God, Anubis, to his will, he could force him to bring his son back to life. To that end, he acquired an artifact known as the Scroll (or Papyrus) of Thoth. He also made a deal with David Xanatos- in exchange for assistance in capturing Anubis, the Emir would ensure immortality for the industrialist. After almost a year of negotiations, Xanatos agreed.

In 1996, Xanatos sent the recently-upgraded Pack- save Dingo, who had returned to Australia- to help the Emir set up the ceremony to summon Anubis, in a hidden chamber within the Sphinx. The Avalon travellers interfered, but were held off by the Pack while the Emir successfully summoned the Jackal God. The Emir attempted to force Anubis to resurrect his son, with the threat that no one could die as long as he was imprisoned. Anubis was unimpressed, and refused. The Emir, angered, took a new approach- he would use a spell on the Scroll of Thoth to make himself into the Jackal God's avatar, and resurrect his son
himself.

Unfortunately, as the Emir cast the spell, the Pack member Jackal interrupted the flow of power, and he became the avatar of Anubis, wreaking havoc with his newfound power over life and death. He decided to let the Emir live, so he could see him bring death to the entire planet. That was his mistake- Goliath, even though Jackal/Anubis had aged him to decrepitude, was able to toss the Emir the Scroll, and he used it to pull the spirit of Anubis into himself.

The Emir now realized that Anubis was right to refuse him, that "What is dead and gone cannot be restored". However, he did reverse as much of Jackal/Anubis's damage as was possible, reverting the Avalon travellers, Hyena, and Wolf to their true ages (though he could not restore Coyote 3.0 or the city and other life Jackal slaughtered). After that, Emir/Anubis decided that no one was meant to have the power of Anubis, and collapsed the hidden chamber, ending his own life and freeing the Jackal God.

One hopes he is now on the other side, reunited with his son.

Powers, Abilities, and Weaknesses:

The Emir was a strong-willed and (presumably) rather wealthy individual, with some skill in sorcery.
