History:

On a dark night in the year 994 there were two tragedies, each which would have an impact which would measure in centuries. One, the massacre of Castle Wyvern.  The other, the anger of Demona, in the slashing of the face of a young boy in a fit of well-deserved rage created the identity of the Hunter.  This boy was named Gillecomgain, and his hatred of gargoyles led him to create the identity of the Hunter, assassin and gargoyle hunter extraordinaire.  His mask was emblazoned with three scratch marks diagonally down his face, mimicking his own scars.  Over the years, he hunted down and exterminated every gargoyle he came across, but never quite catching the one he wanted, the Demon.  He supplemented his quest by becoming the personal assassin of Prince Duncan.

In a bold move, the Prince sent Gillecomgain to assassinate Findlaech, father to MacBeth, so that Moray's prince would not have the support he needed to become King.  He was successful, but as Gillecomgain was about to kill MacBeth, Demona swooped down and attacked him.  In battle, MacBeth was nearly swept over the wall, and when Demona chose to save him and Gruoch, Gillecomgain escaped.  As a reward for killing Findlaech, Prince Duncan awarded Gillecomgain the stewardship of Moray.

Through the years, Gillecomgain battled Demona over and over, never quite getting the upper hand long enough to end his eternal quest to rid the world of gargoyles.  In the year 1032, Duncan ordered the marriage of MacBeth's beloved Gruoch to him.  This was mostly likely a maneuver to further reduce MacBeth's standing and humiliate him at the same time. At the same time Gillecomgain gained a lovely bride.

Later, fearing MacBeth's response, Duncan asked Gillecomgain to assassinate him, to which Gillecomgain refused, citing that this would lead to questions about his fathers demise... and who demanded it.  The Prince and Gillecomgain threatened one another to think before risking each other's defiance.  Gillecomgain was then set up himself by Duncan, who had told MacBeth who really had assassinated his father.

On a balcony, Gillecomgain faced MacBeth, and battled until the Hunter threatened Gruoch.  A watching Demona attacked as she had all those years ago, and in the end, Gillecomgain fell to his doom at the hands of Demona and MacBeth.  But he was only the first in a long line of Hunters.
