The Golem

[The Golem]
Above: The Golem.
Species: Golem

Gender: N/A, but appears to be male

First Appearance: "Golem"

Other Appearances: None

History:

The precise date of the Golem's creation is unknown. It is a magical statue, about 8 to 9 feet tall and with a massive build. It was apparently constructed to protect the innocents of Prague from any evil that would seek to harm them. The statue would lie dormant until one with the strength of will to control it would recite an incantation in Hebrew, fold up the paper on which the spell was inscribed, and place it in the Golem's open mouth, which would then close. At that point, the statue would come to life, being guided by the one who spoke the spell. In the past, the Golem was activated by a Rabbi Loew in the year 1580 to protect the citizens of Prague from bandits and mobs.

More recently, the Golem was brought to life by Rabbi Loew's descendant Max Loew, who was trying to save the city from the criminal gang of Tomas Brod. However, just before Max's first attempt to activate the Golem could succeed, Brod stole the statue and brought it to Halcyon Renard and Preston Vogel. Renard hoped to transfer his soul into the body of the Golem, so that he might walk and feel again. His former principle of integrity, he felt, could no longer be upheld. Goliath and the rest of the company on the World Tour were instrumental in making Renard realize that what he'd done was wrong. Thus, Renard ended up back in his own body, and the Golem became the protector of Prague, as it was intended to. Guided by Max Loew, its first new action was defeating Brod and his gang. At present, the Golem, with Max Loew guiding it, is still protecting Prague.

Powers, Abilities and Weaknesses:

The Golem possesses immense strength, being stronger than even Goliath. It has been observed keeping an entire hovercraft from taking off. It is also made of solid, possibly magical stone, making it extremely hard to damage. However, magic can affect it, and it is also slow and a bit ponderous. Also, since it apparently needs a will to guide it, it may be that if it's guide is injured or unconcious, the Golem may simply stop moving or go into a mindless rampage.
