Karadigi was a walled city built in ancient Nigeria by the Houka tribe. The city, shaped like a spider's web, was built for Anansi, who made its construction a requirement for transforming the Panther Queen back into her true feline form. To that end, she married the Houka tribe's leader, the Oba, and through him gained the resources of the tribe.
Pleased by Karadigi, Anansi was true to his word and transformed the
Panther Queen back. However, she was now lonely, and asked the spider to
change her children into panthers, so that she could be with them. Anansi
agreed, with two provisos- one, she must hunt for him, and two, she could
only select one child to be changed thus. She chose her eldest son. Despite
Anansi's attempt to turn the son against his mother, and thus keep his
prized hunter, he was transformed and the two were
together. Furious at his failure, Anansi banished the Houka from Karadigi-
but was now alone, and hungry.
Many, many years later, in the 1990s, a man named Fara Maku found the city, and made a deal with Anansi, whereby he and his love Tea would be together as werepanthers. Anansi agreed, but the results were not what was expected- Fara Maku came to live in the jungle around the ancient city with a local tribe, and Tea became a poacher and hunter of panthers, trying to gain revenge on the one who made her a werebeast. Thanks to the intervention of the Avalon travelers, Karadigi was discovered by the two weres, Elisa's mother Diane, and the travelers themselves in 1996, and Anansi was defeated.
In all likelihood, Karadigi stands empty and abandoned once more, with its lone master residing on Avalon.
