Merlin was an incredibly famous wizard. He is the son of Oberon, the lord of the Third Race, and an unknown human female. He was initially the court wizard and a chief advisor of King Uther Pendragon, and helped orchestrate the events that led to the birth of Arthur Pendragon, and his rise to the throne of Britain. Merlin ensured King Arthur a place to sleep on Avalon in the Hollow Hill after his "death" at the Battle of Camlann by calling on a favor owed him by his father. Afterwards, he sunk into obscurity. He stored his diary, called the Scrolls of Merlin, in a different hollow hill somewhere in Great Britain. He is still alive, but his location is unknown. After his reacquisition of Excalibur, Arthur's first goal was to find his old mentor.
Merlin was a very powerful and wise wizard- his precise capabilities are unknown.
