History:

The so-called "Obedient Child Spell" was created in pre-Inquisition Spain by a fed-up brujah widow. Her children, as the story goes, were so disobedient that the brujah had to resort to magical means to teach them respect. Finding a scroll of paper whose origin came from Avalon, she scrawled the spell hastily upon the paper, and using it as an avatar successfully brought her children under control.

Thought to be lost for centuries, it was actually found in 1246 ... by a wandering, immortal blue gargess named Demona.

The spell will only work if read within earshot of a person who;
a) shares the reader's bloodline, and
b) is from a younger generation.

By reciting the text of the spell, the Avalonian paper acts as the catalyst for the spell, which in effect leaves the child the way the reader wants them -- obedient, unquestioning, and willing to do anything the reader wants, even if it conflicts with their personal belief systems.

Demona used the Obedient Child spell on Angela, who had left the clan with conflicting feelings about her father (still mourning the death of Elisa Maza). Because of Angela's desperate state of mind, the spell took hold much easier than it normally would, and as a result Angela Destine became the executive vice president of Nightstone Unlimited, by her mother's side.

During the Rokkan invasion, though, Demona was taken aboard the Rokkans' mother ship, orbiting above the Earth. Because the reader of the spell had left the planet, the spell temporarily lifted. Although it took a while to lift: after her mother was off-planet, Angela assaulted Broadway, but then attended to injuries he had sustained in a Rokkan attack (see "The Morning of the Gargoyle"; "Captivity and Liberty").

However, when it became clear to Demona that the spell had lifted, she read it to Angela once again when Angela threatened to leave. Angela is now currenly under the influence of the spell's second reading. Demona is not planning on leaving the planet anytime soon. It may take a miracle for the spell to lift again ...
