Not much is known of the Rokkans, other than that their physical appearance is very similar to Earth's gargoyles, just much larger. It's theorized that the Rokkans and the gargoyles are so similar due to conicidentally similar evolutionary patterns on separate planets.
The Rokkans have spent much of their time in space as conquerors. They have a long-standing war with the alien race which Nokkar (from "Sentinel") belongs to, and the capture of Earth would be a major strategic victory in that same war. As such, Nokkar was dispatched over a millennium ago to act as the first warning of any attack made by the Rokkans on Earth. However, time and decay took its toll on Nokkar's equipment and his original orders; by the time of his encounter with Goliath, Elisa, Angela and Bronx during their Avalon Quest, it was unclear to him whether the war was actually still going on.
However, that weakness provided the perfect opportunity for the Rokkans to strike. On April 2nd, 2021, the Rokkans began their assault on Earth.
The Rokkans are a single-minded race. They all share the same goal at all times: victory. And should that victory come at a price in lives ... so long as they are not Rokkan, any blood spilt will be worth it. (Quote from "Soulscape": =One casualty is too many,= referring to one fallen Rokkan attacker.)
Prior to their initial attack, the Rokkans struck a deal with Demona to use her magical abilities and her Nightstone Unlimited resources at the Rokkans' disposal. In return for this, Demona has become a Rokkan commander, leading strikes against human targets ... which means any human breathing, as far as Demona is concerned. Demona has also convinced the Rokkans to begin a campaign of homo sapiens genocide, using tactics similar to those used by the Nazis during World War II.
Demona's ultimate goal in her alliance with the Rokkans is to leave Earth in the gargoyles' domain. However, they must be gargoyles that see the world her way. Unfortunately for Clan Manhattan, and especially for their human/gargoyle hybrid leader Rosanna, that does not include them.
Though it is very difficult, it is not impossible for a Rokkan to turn on their own. This is evidenced by a Rokkan joining the Earth Resistance: Liberty, who after being injured was abandoned by her own mate and rescued by Rosanna. Only time will tell if any other Rokkans will eventually rebel against Demona's campaign of destruction, although it does not appear likely.
