The Early Hatchers are basically what you call witches, but in gargoyle terms. In the Wyvern days, a gargoyle called Salem (one of Hudson's rookery brothers) discovered the truth, and reformed a coven. Most of them were in Goliath and Demona's rookery, except for Brooklyn.
They all are biological witches, which are the only kind that can call
on all four Powers, or Watchtowers (No, I did not take this from the movie
"The Craft." I didn't even SEE "The Craft" until after I wrote these stories.
Plus that movie STINKS!). The Watchtowers are North, which is the Power
of Earth; East, which is the Power of Air; South is Fire, and West is the
Water. Usually a biological witch can master one Power and then tap the
others.

Most of the Early Hatchers were destroyed in the massacre at Castle Wyvern. The only survivors were Demona and Brooklyn, while Salem was later brought back to life by a blessing from Oberon. Both Nocta and Shi were reincarnated into Elisa Maza and Sasha Pideo by a spell that Salem cast on them the night before the massacre.
Salem was brought back when his daughter, Demona finally realized true happiness. He tried to recreate the Coven, but could only find two more members (Elisa and Sasha), while the search for the rest became unsuccessful.
He once became angry when Brooklyn and Demona refused to follow orders and erased their memory of being together. He later regretted doing that, and had Krystiana go back and fix things for him.
Salem died in 2031 AD after taking a bullet in the chest.
