History:

Shadowstar was born 2036 years ago, in a reality designated as XX2. She was the daughter of Rhayna, one of the first generation of Oberon's Children, and Midnight, a gargoyle. Rhayna abandoned Shadowstar to be with the Olympian, Apollo. Shadowstar has no counterparts in any other reality, which made her potentially very powerful. The Kindred, a powerful race of beings from another realm, abducted her and removed Shadowstar's memories of her life before she met them. For years, Shadowstar believed that the Kindred were kind and caring individuals, like family. She joined their ranks, under the command of Iara, their leader, to protect the multiverse from the threat of the Watchers, evil Kindred corrupted by their powers, and bent on causing destruction and chaos through the multiverse, with the goal of conquering all universes. She believed herself to be just a gargoyle, not a fay/gargoyle hybrid because of her missing memories. She was given a pair of magical silver bracelets to "prevent" her stone sleep, and an quartz orb pendant which supposedly allowed her to channel her powers but actually inhibited them. She had mother and father figures in fellow Kindred Lorelei and Xavier. However, every time she found it within herself to leave, she was recaptured by the Kindred and her memories were erased again. During one period of freedom, she had a half-vampire daughter who grew up to be Laren Kyra DeVanRoux, the "goddess" and leader of the vampires. She had Jeremy Nathaniel, one of the first vampires, take her daughter to a place of safety.

During a mission to the XX reality, she fell in love with that reality's Goliath, but Xavier started to pull her back to the Realm of the Kindred, and she was unable to prevent the Watcher threatening that reality, who had taken the form of XX's Owen, from killing that reality's Goliath. This loss hurt her greatly.

Her next mission was in the XX2 reality, to destroy the Watcher's leader, Corbeau, who threatened that world. She enlisted the help of that reality's Manhattan Clan, Puck, and Xanatos to find and destroy Corbeau. He was discovered to have taken the form of XX2's Goliath. To destroy him, Puck and Shadowstar merged their minds and powers. He was destroyed, but Puck and Shadowstar wound up with a psi-link. But just before Xavier took her back to the Realm of the Kindred, a new problem needed to be solved- the real Goliath needed to be found.

Xavier was against this, but Shadowstar had discovered the full potential of her power, and he realized he could not stop her. Because of the fact that they had deliberately concealed how powerful she truly was, and had made her feel like an outsider, she decided to leave the Kindred after she rescued Goliath. She took Puck, Angela, Xanatos, Lexington, and Brooklyn to the Realm of the Kindred, and had Xavier transfer them to the Watchers' world. Before she left, Xavier informed her that Lorelei, the closest person she'd had to a mother, was killed by a Watcher known as Opaque. She swore then that the Watchers would pay.

They arrived shortly before morning, and Xanatos and Shadowstar went spying on the Watchers' fortress while Puck stayed with the stone Angela, Lexington, and Brooklyn. When Shadowstar and Xanatos returned, four Watchers had kidnapped the real Puck, Angela, Lexington, and Brooklyn, and taken their forms. The four Watchers tried to lure them into a trap. They did a poor job of imitation, and Shadowstar found them out almost immediately. After taking the four Watchers out, Xanatos and Shadowstar invaded the Watchers' fortress. She rescued Goliath, but the Watchers' new leader, Lahcaer, challenged her, and offered her the power of the Watchers. She refused, although she was tempted, but he removed the orb she wore around her neck, unleashing her full power. With Goliath's support, she managed to rein her power in, and, having defeated Lahcaer, took herself and her allies back to the Realm of the Kindred, where she said her last goodbyes to Xavier before leaving to live in the XX2 reality.

She remained in that reality with the Manhattan Clan for the next few months, and moved to Castle Wyvern with the rest of the clan after the events of the Hunter's Moon. During this time, she and this reality's Goliath also fell in love.

For Angela's birthday, Goliath had Puck take himself, Shadowstar, and Angela to Avalon. There was immediate conflict between her and Oberon and Titania for then-unknown reasons, but Oberon and Shadowstar found they were immune to one another's powers. Before their conflict could escalate, Shadowstar heard a call in her mind for help from a planet elsewhere in the galaxy. She judged this newfound ability to mentally "hear" calls of help from across the multiverse to be a punishment from Iara, the Kindred's leader, for leaving them.

When she arrived on the planet, she discovered it was a magical planet like a planet-sized version of Avalon. The planet was the source of all magic in her universe, and the its power was being devoured by a dark cloud-like entity. Shadowstar knew she could not fight the being alone, so she returned to the Eyrie Building to get help.

She discovered that Puck had lost his ability to become Owen, and Angela, who had the magic of Avalon in her blood, was deathly weak. Both were symptoms of the drained magic. She merged briefly with Puck again, and their combined power allowed them to recruit the help of a female fay from another reality named Andrian, who was in love with that reality's Goliath. Shadowstar felt immediate jealousy towards Andrian (even though she knew it was irrational since Andrian loved another Goliath) which quickly developed into a strong dislike. She put her pendant, which contained residual magic from Puck, around Angela's neck, and Andrian filled it with some of her magic, making the pendant into a sort of protective charm. Andrian, Shadowstar, and Puck then went to Avalon, where a telepathic probe from Shadowstar revealed that Avalon was near death. Shadowstar forced Oberon to give Puck his full powers again, and then the three traveled to the other planet.

At Andrian's urging, Shadowstar created a telepathic bubble to protect herself, Puck, and Andrian, and entered the black cloud. They then entered the psychic plane to confront the entity there discovering that it was none other than Flicker! In reality, they soon discovered, it was really an evil being known as Opaque. The creature engaged the three in battle. Andrian had trouble bringing herself to fight Opaque, for the Flicker of her reality was a good friend and her teacher. Opaque seemed to be losing at first, but unleashed its power against the three, dividing them, and then focused most of its might on Shadowstar. Puck was forced to use his psi-link with Shadowstar in reverse and pushed himself to merge with her, giving her the power she needed to destroy Opaque's very essence, ending his threat and returning the stolen magic. This was very stressful on Puck, but he recovered.

They returned to the Eyrie Building to discover a healthy Angela, but their problems were not yet over. The Puck, Flicker, and Goliath of Andrian's reality were traveling to Shadowstar's reality with that reality's Titania's help. What they did not know, but Shadowstar did, was that counterparts must never meet. She tried desperately to prevent them from entering her reality, but failed, and while Flicker got through, both Goliaths and Pucks were sucked into an energy vortex between realities. Andrian and Shadowstar entered the rift after them, despite the rift's apparent attempts to stop them from entering. The pair soon encountered- another Opaque! This Opaque revealed two things- One, that the other Opaque was merely a projection of himself, and two- he was the same Opaque responsible for the death of Lorelei. When Shadowstar heard this, she flew into a rage, but found she could not fight Opaque on her own. A strange thing then occured- Andrian merged with Shadowstar, as Puck normally did. She was quickly forced out of Shadowstar by Opaque, and Shadowstar was forced to abandon her dominance, merging herself into Andrian and allowing Andrian to manipulate her power as Shadowstar had Puck's. Their combined might was sufficient to destroy Opaque and release both Goliaths and Pucks. Andrian, along with her reality's Flicker, Goliath, and Puck, parted from Shadowstar's company. The two had become something closer to friends.

Next, Shadowstar assisted the vampires, another race of immortals, in rescuing the vampire known as Jeremy Nathaniel, who had been killed by the Olympian, Zeus, from Tartarus. Zeus had slain Jeremy before the Fates had decreed it was to happen, so his death had thrown fate out of balance, and was responsible for the increasing hatred facing the creatures of the night like gargoyles and vampires. Shadowstar, Goliath, Brooklyn, and the vampire "goddess" Laren Kyra DeVanRoux (who had an uncanny resemblance to Shadowstar if Shadowstar was a vampire) entered Tartarus, and, overcoming several obstacles, managed to get Jeremy back to the living world. After saving vampires under attack by humans at the vampires' home, Rosell, Jeremy and Shadowstar pooled their powers to cleanse away most of the increased hatred.

Shadowstar quickly discovered that she no longer truly loved Goliath. After staying at Castle Wyvern one night (Goliath kept her off patrol because of the way she'd been acting), she was attacked by Eutaru, a demonic hunter created from the hatred of the Olympians and imbued with some of their powers. She was brought to the brink of death by his attack, and was infected by a virus created by Hestia to destroy Shadowstar's mind. She managed to get to Avalon, where Flicker and Rhayna tried to help her. They tried to get the help of the renegade Olympian Pallas Athena, but Eutaru tracked them to her temple. Eutaru defeated Rhayna and Athena, but Flicker, with some help from Shadowstar, managed to destroy the demon. Shadowstar then fell into unconsciousness. Flicker then discovered distinctive markings that showed him, Athena, and Rhayna that Shadowstar was actually Rhayna's long-lost half-gargoyle daughter. It was discovered that Shadowstar's powers, which had been decreasing of late, were being drained by the orb pendant she was wearing. When the pendant was removed, an energy backlash pulled Flicker's mind into Shadowstar's, linking them. On the psychic plane of Shadowstar's mind, her suppressed fay half got Flicker to help her accept her past, which was quickly returning to her. She did not wish to, for it would mean accepting that all her past was a lie, but she accepted just in time as a wave of Kindred energy swept over her, which would have destroyed her had she not accepted the truth. Shadowstar then awoke, and rejected everyone, for she was in pain and wished to be alone. Iara appeared at that point, and condemned her to lose all her Kindred powers and cursed her to remain in Avalon. If Shadowstar was gone for more than two days, she would die... but Shadowstar has stretched this to the fullest. Iara never said which Avalon. Oberon, Titania, Rhayna, Allison, Puck, and Flicker pooled their powers to drive the leader of the Kindred away. After that, she told Goliath that, quite frankly, she no longer loved him, something that truly hurt him. The Manhattan Clan returned to New York, and Shadowstar remained on Avalon. Flicker helped her deal with the truth, for his being in her mind made the two fall in love.

Shadowstar's troubles were still not over. The Flicker of Andrian's reality, who was the original Flicker, pulled her through the mirror that created him into his Avalon by accident, and she helped stop a Watcher, masquerading as Oberon, who threatened that Avalon. Escaping death, Flicker and Shadowstar jumped back through the mirror... where both Flickers confronted one another. They were discovered not to be counterparts, but were actually shards of the same whole. While there, she helped create the link that allowed them to merge into one complete being. This left Shadowstar with an aching heart, for she did not know if her Flicker would really be a part of the other. After this occured, they returned through the mirror with a small battalion to defeat the Watcher and his Horsemen once and for all. The newly complete Flicker returned to Reality XX2 with Shadowstar. She also helped Avalon fight the onslaught of Hades and the Olympians. Shadowstar's life will probably have many more adventures in the future.

Powers, Abilities, and Weaknesses:

As one of the Kindred, she had limitless mental powers, allowing her to do almost anything she wanted. In addition, she had all the abilities of gargoyles, including superhuman strength, a prehensile tail, wings that allowed her to glide, claws and talons, and the ability to regenerate while in stone sleep. Now, she still has her gargoyle abilities, but her mental abilities have been decreased significantly. She still has telepathic and telekinetic abilities, but nowhere near the limitless powers she once had. She is learning how to use the fay powers she inherited from her mother. Being the only one of her kind in the multiverse, having no counterparts in other realities, Shadowstar is marked with the potential she had when she was with the Kindred, but she has yet to find it within herself to use it.
