The Space-Spawn are an alien race which has been at war with Nokkar's people for eons. Other than that brainwashing is a favorite tactic of theirs, nothing is known of them.
In Greg Weisman's Master Plan, the Space-Spawn would have invaded Earth in 2198, abducted the world leaders, and absorbed Earth into the Space-Spawn Empire. They possess advanced technology, such as faster-than-light travel, matter transporters, powerful force shields, and weapons capable of destroying planets. If Earth becomes more trouble than it's worth, they may evacuate the Earth and annihilate it.
