Takeo Kimura is a Japanese man of around 30 years of age, and is of average height. He has an elaborate tattoo covering about a third of his back (such tattooing is very common amoung Yakuza).
He is a daigashi, a manager of an illegal gambling house, with two levels above him in his gang (which is part of an ikka "family").
Kimura is the name of the Yakuza family Takeo belongs to. He adopted it when he finished his "apprenticeship" and was inducted into the "family."
In the summer of 1996, Tommy began pursuing Saeko "Sharon" Nomura, seeking to have her as his wife, after meeting her in the Japanese grocery in the same building as Sharon's parents' tailor shop. However, he had no real affection for her- he wanted "a wife of ancient tradition- a meek, silent, submissive, 'decoration for his house,'" who would "placidly serve him, obey him, and bear him children- preferably sons." He took her on a date once, but the whole unpleasant experience- Tommy simply wanted her there as a sort of trophy- made Sharon decide to avoid him. When Sharon began going out with a fellow student, Gary Phillips, Tommy had him beaten up while the pair were on a date, and took Sharon home himself, declaring his desire to have an "appropriate length of time for a proper courtship" and then to marry her.
After that, Sharon began hiding from him, so Tommy began threatening her parents. As a result of this, Sharon ran away, met the Manhattan Clan, and went to live in the Labyrinth, creating her friendship with the clan and the mutates. Tommy reacted to her disappearance by having his men scour the city to find her. He soon learned that she was somewhere underground, and sent men to retrieve her, but they were defeated by Bronx, Angela, Elisa, and Talon.
Unfortunately for Tommy, the way his men found to find Sharon was bricked up. Tommy gave up his pursuit for a short time, but then he began harassing Sharon's parents even more, attempting to get them to reveal where she was hiding. He told them that if Sharon married him, he would guarantee their safety, and convince his Yakuza superiors that the Nomuras were loyal Yakuza followers. Sharon's parents, however, decided to testify against Takeo in a hearing to decide whether to put Tommy on trial for his illegal gambling operations.
When news of the hearing reached Tommy's superiors in the Yakuza, they reacted angrily, ordering him to make sure that he was not brought to trial by any means necessary. To that end, he snuck into the Nomura family's shop on the night of December 10, 1996, and bluntly threatened Sharon's parents. He was about to punch Sharon's father Hiroshi, but he was stopped by Brooklyn, Broadway and Angela, who scared him away. On December 11, Tommy had a hired sniper try to kill Hiroshi, but he was saved by Claw, who took the bullet for him.
On December 12, Tommy's hearing began. But, with the exception of the Nomuras, all of the witnesses were intimidated into keeping quiet about any useful evidence, and what useful evidence did exist was "lost" or declared irrelevant. The case against Tommy was dismissed. Feeling furious, frustrated, and helpless, Sharon transformed herself into a mutate, and went after Tommy, slashing his back, and telling him that if he didn't leave her family alone, she would destroy him. Tommy, terrified, went out cold. He has not been seen since.
Takeo Kimura is a normal human with no superhuman abilities. He is, however, an very athletic man.
