History:

Vinnie is an unusual man who, in a way similar to Brendan and Margot Yale, has had an unusual number of encounters with gargoyles.

His first meeting was in 1994, soon after the gargoyles' awakening in Manhattan. He was riding his motorcycle, when Lexington, curious to examine the machine, glided alongside him. Vinnie panicked, fell off his bike, and ran to a nearby alleyway. Lexington, unfamiliar with the operation of a motorcycle, accidentally crashed it into a wall, and when Vinnie tried to explain what had happened to a judge, he was deemed intoxicated and lost his driver's license.

A few days later, he was at his job, patrolling the hallways of the Cyberbiotics Air Fortress as a guard, when Goliath and Demona infiltrated the airship. Confronted with the gargoyles, Vinnie nearly shot Demona, until he was caught by Goliath. Terrified, Vinnie fainted. He managed to escape the Fortress's destruction, but lost his job.

Over a year passed between that and his next encounter with the Manhattan clan. Now working a security guard at Gen-U-Tech, he entirely overlooked Dr. Anton Sevarius's kidnapping by Goliath. Thus, he lost his job, for the second time.

Vinnie became obsessed with revenging himself on the gargoyle who'd caused him the most trouble- Goliath. In summer 1996, he purchased a weapon from a supplier named Mr. Acme, a large bazooka-like gun which he promptly dubbed 'Mr. Carter.' He tracked Goliath down, finding him as he and Hudson battled Wolf and the spirit of Hakon across Manhattan. He made several attempts to blast the gargoyle leader with the weapon, and failed every time thanks to the battle going on or his own incompetence. Eventually, after the two gargoyles defeated their foes, Vinnie finally managed to use his weapon- which fired a banana cream pie in Goliath's face. Having humiliated his foe and vindicated himself, the triumphant Vinnie strode off.

This was not the last of Vinnie Gregarino, however. He was interviewed on NightWatch soon after the Hunter's Moon incident, and told of how he'd lost his job due to a gargoyle, but had hunted it down and got his revenge. This was seen by two important individuals. The first, Jon Castaway, was intrigued enough to invite Vinnie to join the Quarrymen. He did for a time, and even helped a bit in capturing Goliath and Elisa Maza that evening, but when he saw what Castaway and the Quarrymen were really like, he decided instead to help them escape. The second offered Vinnie a job as a security guard in Japan, a job which he accepted after leaving the Quarrymen. He was there when last known, and might meet (or may meet) the Ishimura clan.

In Greg Weisman's Master Plan, it would have been revealed that it was Taro who hired Vinnie.

Powers, Abilities, and Weaknesses:

Vinnie is a normal but extremely persistent human, lacking any superhuman abilities. His weapon, Mr. Carter, could fire pies at high velocity and with great accuracy at his opponents.
